Their one loss is to #2 Syracuse, and I would say neutral court win over Kentucky is better than our two signature wins. Not worth getting worked up over, especially win we'll be able to settle matters head to head early in the conference season.

Who is worked up? I am just saying on my ballot I would have us higher than Baylor, Duke and Oregon. I think coaches is pretty close with Oregon getting the advantage for pole position.
Having as high an initial ranking as possible is most advantageous for teams like Villanova and Wichita St (even Oregon) that are in relatively weak conferences.
ISU, tOSU, Wisc, Baylor will all have the chance to prove where they belong and be found out if they're faking it up to this point. And, really, add KU, UK, etc. to that list.
Besides Arizona, Oregon only really has chances at good but not great wins vs. UCLA, Colorado, and ASU, none currently ranked. Though I bet UCLA will end up being so.

The butthurt by some of you over being ranked 14th is funny. Personally, I think this team is right where it should be. We've beat 1 team that is currently ranked in the 20s at home barely.
I'm confused as to why Kansas is still rated so high. Am I missing something? I haven't gone back to look at their losses.
With Kansas falling, why is Villinovas win over them still skyrocketing them up? Who else have they beat? Iowa
We want Baylor ranked right where they are. If they move up even higher that is great because when they come to Hilton on January 7th and the Cyclones kick their *** all over the court moving to 14-0 on the season ISU will shoot even higher in the polls.
I agree. I just answered the question on who we could have an argument to gripe about but certainly not overwhelming and I agree them higher is good for us.
Agree, shouldnt have answered that question. Any argument is debateable and a couple teams behind us could also make arguments that they should be higher. We had some gripe when we were behind unc, not really anymore.
If you are going to change the schedule, you might as well change the roster too.
His point is completely valid, if you are 9-0 as a blueblood with this schedule, you are getting votes for #1. As it is, I am pleased with the amount of capital Fred has gained back for the ISU MBB brand as I do not think we are a top-15 team right now. To be in the top-15 after only 9 games for a team no one had high expectations for is a lot of respect. The great news is if we keep playing well and get another tournament win this season, the next two years we will not be starting outside of the rankings.
