Small Town Murder is great. I’m not a true crime buff, but I’m a geography nerd so I enjoy the story behind the towns and James & Jimmie are a hilarious pair.
That Forest City episode is wild. One of the few unsolved murders they’ve done.
I enjoy listening to true crime podcasts and like ones that go in depth on a single case at a times. A couple go state by state doing cases so I've heard a few Iowa ones. Among then are the following:
Small Town Murder
Rick Forsyth's rampage in Norwalk in 90's
Shawn Bentler in Bonaparte in 06 crazy case where his daughters got the family inheritance
James Klindt in Davenport in 80's
who cut up wife with a chainsaw and put her in the Mississippi and only ended up serving 20 years
Murder in America
Vasillica Murders, Gitchie Manitou and Breasia Terrell in 2020
Michelle Martinko both United States of Murder and Killer Cases on Hulu
United States of Murder
Cari Farver
Amy Mullis
Gitchie Manitou
Unspeakable:
Noah Crooks
Mom's and Mysteries
Jodi Huisentruit
These I haven't listened to yet
Malvern Manor
Cory Wienke
Curious to hear people from areas where these happened (outside of Vallisica and Jodi these were all new to me when I heard them) and any Iowa cases that are out there that others have come by on other true crime podcasts.
The Iowa Cold Cases website is the first and foremost clearinghouse for cold cases all over the state, including unsolved homicides and persons who went missing under suspicious circumstances.

One that sticks out to me other than the ones you mentioned.
Adam Lack, 33, was killed July 13, 2008 after being lured from his family's Mitchell County, Iowa home by one of many bullying upstream polluting farmers.
Gary Lack, 58, was poisoned by a Mercy Hospice nurse at his Nora Springs, Iowa home Jan. 14, 2004, after fighting Mitchell County point source water polluters.
The Klindt case was a huge item of local interest. Seemed like it took a very long time to put the pieces (sorry, bad choice of word there) together to pin this one on him. As I recall he was fairly thorough in his commitment of the crime and disposal of the body.
It was a long time ago, so I would like to listen to this to refresh my memory of the details.

If this story is true then yes corruption. I found the articles you linked 5 years ago and the story blew my mind. But I know quite a few people in the St Ansgar/ Osage area and claim they haven’t heard anything about it. I even have a friend who’s brother in law worked at the same ethanol plant Adam did and he knew nothing about it. Really weird.
Pretty sure the entire story was written by the wife/mother that some have said isn’t dealing with a full deck so who knows. Altho anyone that has dealt with anything like the story depicts probably has some issues.
The David Moffit Grimes murder of a man while he was in bed while his fiancé slept next to him is a WILD story. One of the craziest Datelines I’ve seen.

I agree with a lot of this, but knowing the area and some of the people, I can believe some of the accusations, that doesnt exactly make them true either.
I also agree most people know nothing about any of it, which makes it seem even more like it was swept under the rug. Like absolutely nothing, I dont even know how I originally stumbled on the story, it sure wasnt from the news.
I have always wondered what the truth is about this story. Makes me believe the truth is somewhere in the middle of all of it.
Found a podcast from 2018-19 but the episodes won't load. It was called Keep it on the DL and was mainly Iowa cases. Among them were Iowa State Fair Murders, The Sueppel case like in the photo above, U of Iowa shooting, and triple homicide from Ottumwa, Justin Michael and Crystal Arensdorf

The Adam Lack case is complete and utter ******** that people unfamiliar with how any of this works have bought into hook line and sinker.
You have to accept that an entire fire department, sheriff’s department, and district court judge let a guy die over an argument that didn’t even have major financial consequences. You also have to accept that a vehicle that had its brakes cut went through multiple T intersections, and crossed a state highway without the driver being aware that said brakes were cuts.
If the circumstances surrounding the Lacks deaths resulted in a conspiracy of nearly hundreds of people determined to kill them, rural Iowa would be littered with cases like this.
I recall watching a case on tv once where some teen girl went missing from a mall in Cedar Rapids in the 70's and went unsolved for a long time. Then DNA came along and there was a family of 3 or 4 brothers, and one of them matched. They went into his place of business in rural Iowa and busted him on hidden camera. He was overweight, early 60s and thought he had gotten away with it. Anyone remember it? I don't recall any of the names in the case.
Michelle Martinko; CR Kennedy. In my young years, I met her a couple years prior to her murder. I was past acquainted with a couple of her classmates who ended up as witnesses for the prosecution. Sensationalized case went unsolved for 39 years. She was murdered in Westdale Mall parking lot (brand new mall opened for two weeks).
~Was a miracle the three suspects (brothers) were all still alive and living in eastern Iowa. A relative in Washington state had past submitted dna to Ancestry.com. She never met the three Iowa brothers. The case was featured on 48 hours, Paula Zahn's show, and a couple others.
~ Was unbelievable news when the story of the murderer's arrest broke-a few years ago,
