Iowa tax refund

I'm not an expert but I'm just going to make a wild guess that a huge surplus has nothing to do with when you'll get your tax returns. If this was the case, you'd still be waiting for your federal return from around 1970.
Correct. And the state can't print money....

Same, second year in a row. Despite increasing withholding this year, we owe in even more to each than a year ago. Already filed new W4s to hopefully get it right moving forward.
I did a good size Roth conversion. I owe quite a bit.

I’m getting a whopping dollar from BOTH federal and state. I’m not too worried about when my refunds come in this year. Honestly, I don’t think my dollar from state last year ever was deposited.

That is perfect tax planning.

It took 2 weeks for me to get my federal tax refund. That is the quickest that I have ever gotten it. Biden's expansions to the IRS are working. It took a month and a half to get my Iowa refund. I filed my federal and Iowa returns at the exact same time.
1/3 regular, last 2/3rds should be left in the cave.

That is fast. How many agents have been hired so far under Bidens expansion?

Back to topic, when will Iowa employers start adjusting for the lower Iowa income tax rates?

We got our fed refund in a week. Haven’t filed Iowa yet. We owe for the first time in a while. Guess we are too poor to get our taxes cut.

Couple questions:

1. Do you not e-file? Why wouldn't you file Fed and IA at the same time?
2. You do know you don't have to pay what you owe when you file right?

Genuinely curious. Because I have a client who's taxes are complete, he owes a bunch (because he took out a huge 401k distribution and got the 10% penalty) but won't let me deliver them to him/e-file them yet because he doesn't want to pay the taxes right now (and he's trying to come up with outlandish ideas to not pay it). He doesn't know it yet but he's getting charged a storage fee every week his taxes sit on my kitchen table ready to be delivered.

Still waiting for my refund

I always love these situations. As if it isn't fairly easy to ballpark what your tax burden is and if you employ the right people (and actually accept their input) you can make informed decisions knowing how it is going to affect your tax burden. By all means though whine, make up BS, spew garbage about the govt etc. to make up for your lack of planning and knowledge.
