Iowa State Transfer/Recruiting Class 2024

Lol, what are you talking about. Lipsey, Milan, and Gilbert average over 30mpg the whole year and CuJo averaged almost 30 in Big 12 play. So next year our 4 best players from our Sweet 16 will get less minutes?
Those 4 were absolute ballers and you want to see them less because new guys need more minutes?
If we have better players with them, yes maybe a minute or two less. Allows them to play harder with the minutes they have. Less cumulative wear and tear over the season.

28-31 minutes isn't very strenuous. We actually had some of lowest minutes totals from our starters in the Big 12 this year and still had the #1 defense.

Gilbert actually played the most % of available minutes this year and he was ranked 22nd in the Big 12 in that category.

Those guys are locked in. Why do you think we were so good this year.

Getting rid of Omaha is one thing but no you seem to be suggesting we recruit over our current starters? I wonder how well that plays out in the locker room when all of a sudden Gilbert is playing 20 minutes instead of 31.
It's not "recruiting over." It's getting better.
It's getting deeper.
What if Gilbert, Lipsey, and Milan go from 31 to 27? What if one game Hadley plays 32, and the next 24. Or Milan plays 30, then 22?

Not everything has to be cookie cutter. Top 3-4 don't have to 32+ minutes, and returning players aren't guaranteed more minutes than newcomers.

Heise would take Pav's role but is 6'5" and further along in development. I really think that the staff thought Pav would have been more effective and play 15 minutes to give Lipsey and Gilbert more rest. There is ~15-17 minutes available for a 4th guard. There is a big role available the year after when Gilbert and CuJo leave. I am sure the staff is selling him on contributing this year and a big role in year 2. Also give Nojus and Pierce time to earn their minutes when they are ready.
With the amount of breaks in action, having a guard play 30 mpg is not a big ask. Sure seemed like Pav was ready and able to play 15-17 min but there was not 15-17 min available.

It also helps to have a couple guys off the bench you can throw into the game and hope they provide a spark so you can avoid digging yourself early deficits like we did against Illinois

So the 4 best players from the best team we've had since 2000 can't be guaranteed minutes next year? That's quite the world we live in now.

Because we had little choice, as they only had Pav and Watson behind them.

Think of it this way, if Hadley and/or Heise been here this year, would the 4 returners have played 30 min/game?

Now add the loss of King opening some minutes, and it’s feasible. Milan, Gilbert, and Cujo’s draft stock won’t change because they play 25 min/gm on a deeper roster instead of 30 min/gm on a limited one the year before

It was the best team since 2000. Those 4 guys are far from the best players since 2000.

Do you not want to get better? This is how you take the next step. Win the Big 12, get a #1 seed.

I’d actually be surprised if Indrusitas doesn’t find his way into the rotation. Dude can ball.
I think Nojus is going to be a slightly shorter but more athletic version of Milan. Good shooter but can do more facing the basket than back to the basket.

Call Milan whatever you want but rebounding and defense are not in his DNA.
We need a physical traditional 4.

If Milan’s “dna” isn’t capable of good defense, then maybe that’s why we’re looking at more big wings?

But I doubt he isn’t capable. He’s a freshman. He’ll improve, and become more athletic if defending 4’s
