***Iowa Pregame Thread***

Does anyone else still think the current Cy-Hawk trophy is kind of lame? I liked the bowling one better.

I'm guessing Gronowski doesn't play that bad for Chicago suburbs West this week; still gonna have to limit their run game.

So…Iowa doesn’t have any pressure because they know they are a bad team and losing this game won’t be a big deal? That’s Fran level apathy setting in already. It’s going to be a long season for them. Then, they’re going to find out that their badass new basketball coach is a fraud too.

Guessing you’re going to see a lot less Hawkeye gear around town over the next year. That bandwagon fanbase will suddenly not care about sports at all. And if you ask them, they’ve never really cared for college sports, they’re more of a pro sports fan.

The ceiling for them is six wins, seven tops. Can easily see them at 5 wins. What happens to the fan base then? College realignment hit Iowa fans in the gut. Iowa wasn’t ready for NIL and they were really not ready for realignment.

Our safeties have to be really sure tacklers against Iowa. We're usually very aggressive filling gaps with those guys, but if you miss, Iowa usually makes us pay with long runs.
For sure seems like their recipe for us is to rip off some big runs and eventually wear us down. Props to the guys last season, who actually hardened up after giving up some big Kaleb Johnson runs early.

The Iowa fan base senses a long season.
They always do this ****, and then Iowa rolls off with like 3 straight wins and they get on their high horse again. And then they lose again and they go back into depression. I’ll never really understand where Iowa fans got this sense of entitlement to think they should be 12-0 or 11-1 every year. 85% of Iowas fan base is is so unrealistic every season it’s mind boggling.

I made the mistake of listening to Chris Hassel and Andrew Downs react to Iowa’s first game and was blown away by the same take. “Iowa looked like a** and that’s a good thing to relieve pressure” is wild to believe. They’re just shifting the goal posts now so a win becomes remarkable and a loss is no big deal.

While I’m here, I also think it’s funny that we’re on week three of Hawk fans/analysts suggesting Iowa State is in a tough place mentally. Can they avoid the bad start with a rivalry win in Ireland? Check. Can they avoid the letdown vs USD? Check. Gimme a break.

OK I’m done. Roll Clones.
