Couldn't find a relevant thread to put this in. If a franchise license is revoked how do they allowed to keep getting Popeye branded supplies? Just seems odd, youd think corporate would just discontinue their orders right? You can still place online orders for these stores directly from Popeyes website too.

I was confused as well when I read about it.

Not much in the situation makes sense as it is being reported.

I went to the one in Ankeny once and the service was so poor I've never been back.
Yeah, I waited in their drive through for an eternity before I said screw it and drove away.

Decided to try Popeye's on a road trip to New Orleans a couple of years ago.

At the first restaurant in Louisiana, the worker told us we couldn't go in. We asked ourselves why they were refusing to serve white folks, but figured out later (too late, actually) that he was trying to tell us that we needed to order through the drive-through.

Same trip home, stopped in Columbia, MO.

First location we got to, went up to the drive-through (old dogs learned a new trick), but...nobody had showed up for work that shift. So tried again on the north side. Finally got to order.

Frankly, it was awful. There's a grocery store deli in Memphis, MO, that sells way better fried chicken than Popeye's, I'm just sayin'.

Come to think of it, the guy at the first location was probably trying to warn us and we just wouldn't listen.

Now, Cane's, yeah, Cane's is VERY good chicken. Closest one to me, though, is in Quincy, IL.

I 100% believe that Kwik Star's chicken is better.

I know I'm probably in the minority but when I went to Popeyes I would get seafood. I love fish, shrimp.
One on Merle Hay sometimes has a spicy flounder thats really good.

You can't say Popeye's is terrible and then say that Cane's is very good chicken. You lose all credibility. Cane's chicken is flavorless slop. People go there for the sauce.

Yo, Dude, les goûts et les couleurs (which is French for "Your mileage appears to vary.")

Bottom line: If I wanted to suck on a pepper shaker, I would.

No thanks.

I know better than to order seafood in a restaurant in the Mid-West.

I either catch my own bass and bluegill from my pond, or wait until I'm in the tropics or coastal Europe. Like Bretagne. Bélize. That kinda thing.

Waouh.

That said, Kwik Star doesn't come this far south. I should sue.

Used to get Popeyes on Merle Hay a lot when I lived in Beaverdale but that was over 10 years ago and only got it a handful of times there since. The spicy fried chicken and Cajun fries beat anything in town. These days Kwik Star probably has the best fried chicken IMO.

My one and only time eating at Popeye's was in NOLA. We were the only light skinned within blocks. Yes, they all turned and wondered what the hell we were doing there. I thought the food was good.

If they are in default of their franchise agreement (appears they are) they are not getting the supplies. However, have they defaced and/or rebranded every single color, sign, utensils, napkins, etc. related to Popeyes?

If that has not happened then this will trigger a lawsuit. Resembling Popeye's in any way while selling food that is not the exact recipe of them is a big legal no-no.
