Iowa Popeyes Locations Sued

If they are in default of their franchise agreement (appears they are) they are not getting the supplies. However, have they defaced and/or rebranded every single color, sign, utensils, napkins, etc. related to Popeyes?

If that has not happened then this will trigger a lawsuit. Resembling Popeye's in any way while selling food that is not the exact recipe of them is a big legal no-no.
It was just a few days after they pulled the franchises. I wonder if they still had supplies and were selling out of that even.

Yeah, I waited in their drive through for an eternity before I said screw it and drove away.
Tried the one in CR, it was disgusting. Mold on the pop dispensers, floor was dirty, and workers were taking turns going out to the car to hotbox. Those guys were STONED.

Food was bad, and i was just waiting dysenterry for 2 days. Cajun fries are just like any other bad fast food french fries.

If I had the time to wait, I'd get their Po' Boy sandwich (in Altoona) I thought it was tasty
Unfortunately, I don't think that's an option any more. IIRC, coleslaw was pretty good as well.

I find most people's opinion is that Popeye's sucks hard. However, the one in my hometown is awesome. Clean, great service, good product. This thread is making me hungry and I think I'll head there for lunch today. Popeye's has taken over the KFC locations in most of the nicer areas of SJ. KFC has gone to crap. Crown's fried chicken is the best but you have to navigate some pretty sketchy areas to get it.

Whoever raved about Cane's is nuts. It is simply awful.

I am not a fan of Cane's either, highly over-rated chicken tenders. I think the chicken tenders at Kwik Star are better to be honest.

I remember the days of the KFC buffet at the Lincoln Way location in Ames when I was in college. That was a good place to get a weekend meal at a good price. KFC in general seems to have gone to crap over the years. I'd rather have Kwik Star or Pizza Ranch chicken over KFC these days. Haven't had Popeye's in a few years but the Merle Hay location the first few years it was open was my goto when I lived a few miles from it and there was a KFC right down the street from it that never seemed busy.

I was just at the Merle Hay location last week. They are still operating with a full menu.

I'd eat Popeye's every day if I thought it was healthy. And red licorice.

Decided to try Popeye's on a road trip to New Orleans a couple of years ago.

At the first restaurant in Louisiana, the worker told us we couldn't go in. We asked ourselves why they were refusing to serve white folks, but figured out later (too late, actually) that he was trying to tell us that we needed to order through the drive-through.

Same trip home, stopped in Columbia, MO.

First location we got to, went up to the drive-through (old dogs learned a new trick), but...nobody had showed up for work that shift. So tried again on the north side. Finally got to order.

Frankly, it was awful. There's a grocery store deli in Memphis, MO, that sells way better fried chicken than Popeye's, I'm just sayin'.

Come to think of it, the guy at the first location was probably trying to warn us and we just wouldn't listen.

Now, Cane's, yeah, Cane's is VERY good chicken. Closest one to me, though, is in Quincy, IL.

The best steak you'll ever have in your life is at Keith's Cafe in Memphis, Mo.

Really weird. Ate at the Merle Hay Popeyes last week and it was good. Service almost annoyingly friendly and helpful.

Back to Popeyes... The one in Waterloo is on this list too. When it opened it was pretty good, I liked the Cajun style fried chicken a lot and several of their sides. The last couple times I've went it was gross. I'm not sad they're shutting that dump down.

I've had the Popeyes in Ankeny once and it was pretty decent. I think they got some stuff figured out since they opened.

Canes is absolute trash which is wild because they have like 4 items on their menu. It's just flavorless and soggy.

I just find myself at Culvers more often that not lately. Good burgers. Good chicken. Good fish. Top notch service. They have some very strict rules for the franchise owners about actually working in the franchises that they own. A single owner is only allowed up to four so they can spend enough time at each. It shows.

I'm a big Culver's fan but several of the DSM area locations have let me down over the last year. Quality has definitely slipped at times.

Been awhile but the chicken sandwich I had beat any of the other fast food chicken sandwiches that popped up everywhere.

My bad if I misunderstood. Please elaborate. What stereotypes do you mean?

I know a lot of people who have pre-conceived opinions that Popeye's are trashy and dirty. They also compare them to a much lower quality KFC. There are also certainly opinions formed around demographics too. I can remember when the Ankeny location got announced and a lot of people up there weren't happy about it...
