Iowa Popeyes Locations Sued

I'm a big Culver's fan but several of the DSM area locations have let me down over the last year. Quality has definitely slipped at times.

I'm usually hitting north Ankeny or Grimes and never had an issue. I also frequent them on the road because in general I don't feel like I'm risking future terlet destruction.

Been awhile but the chicken sandwich I had beat any of the other fast food chicken sandwiches that popped up everywhere.

If you get a fresh chicken sandwich it is hands down the best in the fast food industry and IMO it's not even close.

We frequent both WDM locations and Grimes. Grimes has been solid but the WDM locations have definitely been hit and miss on both quality/consistency and service time. Either way I'm still going to go there because even on an off day it's still pretty solid.

Not a big fan of straight tendies at Slim Chickens but the chicken club sandwich is phenomenal for fast food.

I know a lot of people who have pre-conceived opinions that Popeye's are trashy and dirty. They also compare them to a much lower quality KFC. There are also certainly opinions formed around demographics too. I can remember when the Ankeny location got announced and a lot of people up there weren't happy about it...
I live in Ankeny and didn't hear a single person say anything negative. All I heard was how excited people were because Popeyes was great. But now its reputation is so poor, because the service is legitimately terrible, I'm surprised its still open.

And by the way, I interpreted your original post spot on and you know it.

OK

I would love for West Des Moines to get either a Popeye's or Zaxby's. I feel like a lot of people have unfair pre determined opinions about Popeyes because of certain stereotypes...

Lol! So if you dont like Popeyes you're racist. Nice take.

That's not at all what I said.

Kind of feels like you back peddled off the racism and then finished it up saying some people don't like Popeye's because of racism.

JFC there is a huge difference between racism and what I said but you guys feel free to go down that road.

If you're going to accuse people of not liking a southern food chain because of "stereotypes" how the hell do you think that's going to be interpreted?

I love Popeyes, but there are definitely a lotttt of underperforming franchises. When I lived in Omaha I'd go past a Popeyes to go to another one that I knew was much better.

I went once, food wasn’t very good, service was the worst and the place was dirty. Pretty much what I hear from most people also.

Went to this really small place in New Orleans a few years ago. Saw the place on one of those food shows. Probably only sat 20 people in there. Fried chicken was incredible.

The phrase "stereotypes" doesn't just mean race. I think I made that perfectly clear. I'm sorry if you can't get past how you immediately interrupted what I said.

Most people would use a word like reputation, not stereotype, when talking about a place being dirty or having crappy service. And perhaps if you just said what you meant in your original post instead of leaving it ambiguous, others wouldn't have gone down the path that the word stereotype tends to take them.

Neat. I guess I didn't realize that the word stereotype only applies to race...

There is a very real stereotype that Popeyes caters to the black community. You would be disingenuous to act like there aren't SOME that wouldn't go there because of these preconceived notions.

But you aren't racist if you just don't like Popeyes, nobody said that
