Iowa Dual Discussion

Any chance Ybarra goes at 125? Kysen should beat him obviously but he was another blue chip recruit Iowa failed to develop like Assad.'s
I don't think Ybarra has taken the mat yet this year so I would be surprised to see him this weekend.

Suppose I'll take a shot at some predictions too, with strength Iowa and not scenarios.

125 - Lee TF Terukina -or- Terukina maj Harris - (0-5) -or- (4-0)
133 - Teske dec Attasauov/Redding -or- Attasauov/Redding dec Schriever - (0-8) -or- (7-0)
141 - Woods dec Swiderski -or- Swiderski maj Bennet - (0-11) -or- (11-0)
149 - Murin dec Johnson - (0-14) -or- (11-3)
157 - Siebrecht dec Krassier - (0-17) -or- (11-6)
165 - Carr dec Kennedy - (3-17) -or- (14-6)
174 - Broderson dec Brands - (6-17) -or- (17-6)
184 - Coleman dec Assad - (9-17) -or- (20-6)
197 - Bastida dec Warner - (12-17) -or- (23-6)
285 - Cassioppi maj Schuyler - (12-21) -or- (23-10)

Basically there are 7 matches we more or less know are happening after Brands returned this past weekend. I think 3 of those are pretty clear outcomes in Carr/Coleman for us and Cassioppi for them. 4 "toss-ups" in 149/157/174/197 that I think we'll find a way to get two of. Then it comes down to who Iowa has available at 125/133/141. I think they need at least 2 of the three back and even then I wouldnt be shocked to see our guys beat Teske/Woods.

All in all, I do think Iowa goes full strength and that we wont quite have the juice to win it. That said, it's pretty awesome to finally come into this dual and not have it be a pipe dream for this to be competitive. We are almost right there even with a full strength Iowa.

After the Wisconsin match my dad asked if I wanted to go to it. I told him even if we won we likely wouldn't make it out alive with all those knuckle draggers. I would LOVE to see us win but don't think we are quite there yet.

It's a good call. There are literally diehard Iowa fans I know that refuse to go to home wrestling meets because that crowd is so awful.

I really like our chances but weird **** always happens when we wrestle them, especially in carver.

I love how we wrestled so far but there is a TON of optimism in this thread. Didn't expect that. Especially since it's at Carver. Man, I hope it goes the way a lot of you are predicting. I'm going to be a mess watching this. That's for sure.

I'm not predicting a team win, but the last time we wrestled them in Carver, we lost 18-19 and Gomez had DeSanto on his back for an hour. The crowd will earn them a stall call or two, but I don't think our guys are worried about it.

Lot of exciting matchups, we should learn a lot about where we're at as a program.

This is officially the only thing on my mind this week. I have no idea whats going to happen, and I am caustiously optomistic. Either way this is an awesome feeling going into a cyhawk dual. Finally feels like the Cyclones once again have some sustainablilty to make this a true rivalry. Not sure this is the year, but we just keeping getting closer and closer. It will eventually go our way. Love this program and coaching staff. Jacked up for Sunday.

What I absolutely love, is this crew Dresser has put together is the kind that feeds off of this hate. Pretty sure we'll be fine.

This is one of the reasons I like Swiderski no matter who they put out there. He is the prototype for dudes who feed off that ****.

Good question. I have Teske winning, and the only reason is that I think it’s a more natural weight for him.
Redding has the offense, but the weight cut is a real problem. Ramazan also with the weight cut but he’s so solid defensively and has picked up some more offense. I like my chances with Ramazan right. I think both are R12 type guys with a chance to place if they manage their weight.

Ramazan looked much improved offensively at the Cyclone Open, and flashed more offense in the Grandview dual. I would personally favor Ramazan over either Teske or Shriever
