I think Dandy is a fellow Chiver....

I'd take 20 million and invest it for the betterment of my family.

Then I'd create a foundation that would pay for the college tuition AT IOWA STATE of anyone graduating from Marshalltown high school if they lived in town. Id run that foundation as my job.

While having hundreds of millions would be nice I'd rather see it benefit more people directly. I figure this plan would help students and families but also be an economic generator to being businesses and workers to live in town. All those commuters might think twice about living outside of town if there was a free college fund on the line.

Fify.....you don't Want any of your moneyes going to The U of I

I would find someone smart to manage my money, with me keeping a close eye on it. I currently have no money to invest so would be in over my head. I would buy a 9 hole golf course I would live on and take care of it myself. Golf courses are money pits, but it would be something I enjoy. Set up a plan with ISU athletics, charity, and help my hometown. I love the kinds of things Chive charities do, so would probably help those.

Who am I kidding. I'd die in a fiery Ferrari crash in Las Vegas with a hooker named Porche and a car full of blow. Just how the rest of the lotto winners go down.

Was just reading an article about a couple who recently won $10M. Took the lump sum which dropped it to $6M, then paid taxes which took it to $4.1M.

I would seriously look at the annual payments. 20 years at $500,000 taxable vs. $4.1 now.

I remember hearing a stat (probably from Dave Ramsey) that 30-40% of all lottery winners waste the entire sum and end up back living in their trailer after a few years.
