or they want ISU to win a B12 championship...

Seriously though, if it is a guaranteed win for this year and this year only, then its Utah. If its forever, then its Iowa

Do you live in Iowa? If so…. you’re lying.

I get people not wanting to give Iowa fans the satisfaction of us wanting to beat them more than anyone…. but deep down you know you want to beat these a-holes more than anyone.

If we had been beating them fairly often recently I could see it…. but CMC has sucked bad against them and it gets really old.

to clarify, a guaranteed regular season game for just this year. Pitt wasnt a consideration bc I feel wvu should win that game.

As a WVU fan it would be Penn State. Older WVU fans hate PSU with a passion. most of us knew joe paterno was a pos long before the child abuse stuff was uncovered. interesting tidbit. his brother, who was my boxing instructor, didnt like him either.
It would probably be Iowa this year for me. ISU hasn't beat Iowa in a while, it's at Iowa, and there are fewer big dogs (not really any) on the schedule anymore in OU or UT to make up some good will and boost our rankings. Utah or K State or someone else may end up being more important, but as we sit right now, winning at Iowa seems most important for ISU this year.

Also for the credibility of the conference, I hope ISU beats UI, WVU beats Pitt and Penn State (you've got two good opportunities at big non-con wins!) Houston wins at Oklahoma, Okie State beats Arkansas, Kansas beats Illinois, and ASU beats Mississippi State at home. Those appear to be the biggest games I see for the conference after a quick look at the noncon. Maybe throw CU winning at NU on there, but we know NU's not great lately. Still, it would be a road win over a BIG opponent. Not a lot of great opportunities at resume builders beyond those, so hopefully the conference can win these games to set us up for getting two into the CFP and building more respect to carry through the whole remainder of the year.

Read some Utah message boards or social media groups. You'll hate them worse than Texas within minutes, they're somehow MORE arrogant and condescending. It's actually worse than it seems and not just a few bad apples.

Oh I hate them. But I also hate K-state and Kansas and TCU and . . .

But on a National Stage, it'll be interesting to see who's on top of the mountain.

It pains me to say, but right now I'd say Iowa. Campbell has shown he can beat all others with regularity, but we always lose our minds against the Hawkeyes.

Even the one year we won, it seemed like we did everything possible to lose outside of one great drive. They just did even more.

I think it just symbolizes how all of us are tired of losing to them. Especially the last few years when ISU has been the better team

I guess I'm not sure how people come to this conclusion.

ISU's had their chances to beat them, but it's not like ISU has gone on to do much of anything to really show that they were better. Please don't bring up the '20* season as proof.

Anyway, this year give me Kansas or Utah.

I'll make the case for Iowa that doesn't involve them simply being a rival .Going forward the big 12 will be represented by the media as a lesser conference than the P2. It would be nice if the media wasn't biased but it is what it is. The only thing the big 12 teams can do about that right now is to win marquee non conference games. Since Iowa State only gets Iowa every year it's important for Iowa State to win this game to shove the perception problem up ESPN's ass. Hopefully the rest of the big 12 can win their games as well.

Yeah, this would probably be the best argument for Iowa.

It doesn't help our standings, but there's a bigger picture at play.

And conversely, if we were to lose to Iowa and do great in the big 12 it would likely be held against the conference. Given Iowa is likely to be the 5th best team at best in the big 10, if we were to win the conference the media would be all like "The big 12's best team lost to a team that was nowhere near the big 10's best. That just shows you how much tougher the big 10 is"

The Iowa responses sadden me. We don't play in the BIG.
If saddens me how many fans do not understand how critical the Iowa game is every year.

And yeah, fans are reminded 50+ times per day what "conference" we play in...

A guaranteed win I'm going with utah. If it's a guaranteed curb stomping I would pick iowa.

Basketball K State rules all while that psycho is coaching them. I even found myself just watching all their other Big 12 games and enjoying them lose.

For fball I kind of feel like we extinguished a bit of the KSU demons down there last year in the snow.
