I want Steve Alford....

What was his record at Iowa State when a guy named Tinsley wasn't on the roster? He was a great coach when he had an All-American handling the ball.

1999: 15-15 (6-10)
2000: 21-8 (14-4)
2001: 25-6 (13-3)
2002: 12-19 (4-12)
2003: 17-14 (5-11)

90-62 (42-40) if I added stuff right.
44-48 (15-33) without a guy named Tinsley.

Tell me exactly how teams without a Tinsley guy are different than what we have now?

Bingo the Larry love blows my mind

Check your 2000 season record. You shorted that season by 11 wins. Geez. Okay throw out 1999, he did not have a chance to recruit and address the shortcomings Floyd left him. He lost his top recruiting assistant after the 2000 season, but still had a great year in 2001. 2002 was bad because recruiting was bad. 2003 they were on the way back up and he had just hired Morgan for recruiting. Got fired after that. IMO, the combo of LE coaching and Morgan recruiting would have been great.

Oops, looked at year 2 Utah State instead of year 2 Iowa State. :wideeeyed:

Thought something was goofy when my numbers didn't match Wikipedia.

I would take Larry back in a second! Get a recruiter like Morgan was under Larry and you got a basketball team... A damn good one.

What convinces you Larry can coach? He was exactly what we have now when he didn't have an All American point guard. He's barely .500 at Southern Miss.

I can understand how Cyclone fans can at least debate the idea of Larry, but how in the love of everything that is good, can any Cyclone fan honestly debate Steve Alford?

Alford's resume is better than McDermott's.

Just sayin...

They're both good mid-major coaches IMO.

Who doesn't look like a brillant coach with an All American point guard? I take that back, Mac wouldn't.

Respect your opinion, but if I had a son good enough to play D-1 ball,no how,no way would I want them playing anywhere for Alford.

This, get Larry, have Larry get Tim Floyd to be his assistant and swallow our pride and ask Morgan to quit selling satellite dishes and be our recruiting coordinator! Honestly, I like Mac, seems like a great guy but he's just not mean enough. I would love to see him go gene hackman once and get tossed out of the game. Show some emotion and get ****** once in awhile.

Steve Alford's ego makes Gene Chizik's ego seem very very small. No way I would ever ever want him.
