With all of the World Cup discussion going on about uniforms- especially how the Dutch have orange unis, what if we had an alternate jersey in navy? how would that look? It works for spain...

I think that instead of the under armour alternative, with the weird shoulder pad stitching, why not just go with a 3rd color and have the same tayloring?
I don't like the "I-State" logo. Any merchandise I have bought I have made sure the logo is either on the back or at least not the focal point of the product. However, what you put together, slap that on a t-shirt and have the word "Cyclone" above and "State" below the logo you put together, and I would buy it.
The clothing dealers wanted a third color to use; so they decided navy would be a solid choice. well then everything starting having more and more navy. I want to say they quoted the field painter saying something like, '70% of the field paint was navy', which was getting away from the school colors.
Also, for everyone saying the I-State logo is about Chizik....we voted on the logo, remember? The majority of fans wanted this one, not Chizik.
Yeah, the fans voted on that logo. It won out and now we have a good solid I-State logo. I hope everyone can get behind it as the "main" mark.
Looking back on this logo....why in the heck was the "E" in "state" capitalized? WTF? Didn't anyone notice that looked terrible? Again, that navy blue drove me nuts. The font was brutal too. I hope everyone is now happy with the I-State traditional look and font.
If anyone likes the old logo, there is certainly plenty of merchandise available at a BIG discount at T Galexy, the Union or on-line. Go for it! I perfer the new one myself.
Overtime that's a given.
But with the I-State logo we could institute a tradition as has Iowa with Fry's tiger hawk design of thirty years and counting. Traditions mean success and stability, in my opinion, with the right logo evoking that spirit.

I don't have a huge issue with the I State logo, but I was pretty ****** about how it came to be.
They put an online poll out there asking everyone to vote on the logo that would appear on the Iowa State football helmets. There was no mention of it becoming the primary mark for Iowa State athletics. It was put out there with two seriously lame alternatives (sorry if anyone on here voted for one of the others). It seemed pretty clear to everyone I discussed it with that the powers that be liked the I State and put it out that way so they got the response they wanted. After all of this they presented it as the new primary logo and that Cyclones voted on it. Yes we voted on a new helmet logo.
I have been pretty supportive of Pollard, but I think this was handled pretty poorly.

You are right aboutthe capitol E not fitting. Other issues:
-we actually had two logos. One with Iowa State Cyclones written out and one with ISU. it was confusing
-old logo had more blue than yellow. blue paint kills grass. the middle of JT was a mess
-old logo did not reverse well on helmets
-on TV, the old logo when shrunk became a blob. it was really a mess to work with
I'm not trying to trash our history. I liked it, and still do. But for all the reasons, it made sense to clean up the logo, and get one for the ages. I belive the I State will stick.
Our logo just needs more national exposure.
I know of a team that has a logo with O state. Is it Oregon State, Oklahoma State, or Ohio State? hmm..
Agreed. Earlier this year I wore my old hat that has the old spinning bird logo and ISU in the middle of it. Well a friend of mine in St. Louis asked me why I was wearing an Illinois State hat. What's funny about it is that he knows I went to Iowa State!!
That old logo was completely unrecognizable outside the state of Iowa.

I don't mind the new logo, it's very generic and boring, but the simplicity kind of works. I really like it on merchadise for fans but the "I State" on the helmets is really lame, anything is better than the navy blue though.
This... The poll was so clearly rigged that it wasn't even funny. The logo was decided before the public had any say, and they made sure that the public would choose the one they already decided on. I still get irritated thinking about it... Thanks for the mediocre offerings ISU. (oh, wait, I mean I-State)
I did not vote for the I-State logo. I believe I went with the block-lettered "ISU". It was pretty apparent that the I-State was going to win based solely on the victory against Iowa that year. People were so caught up in the win that they naturally flocked to the closest option to those unis. I also love the fact that they gave us the options on a white helmet, only to switch it up and use the Cardinal. I personally thought all 3 choices looked better on white.
I'd love to see us go with the white helmet and work some white into the uniforms. That would also stop all the comparisons to USC.
