I State logo

Dude it is Estes Park.... 1,000's of people are in those stores every day.

Your statement is nothing more than ignorant.

Once again, win RECONGNIZATION! I like the CY logo with the Cardinal and Gold over the I State logo 6 days a week and twice on Sunday. IT is more RECOGNIZABLE!

Oh, Estes Park! Well why didn't you say so earlier? I take it all back. I didn't know you were talking about the shopping mecca of Estes Park. That consumerist haven of a mountain town. The shangri la of sporting goods. It's where everyone goes to buy their jerseys. I'm pretty sure that Nike is thinking of moving their headquarters there, just so they could have their finger right on the pulse of sports apparel?

For the people saying the getting I-State mixed up with Illinois st, Indiana St, and Idaho st is a common mistake, that is a lame argument.
If I were to wear a shirt with this logo on it on Oregon's campus, do you think I would get ****?

Well, I shouldn't because it's not Oregon St, its Oklahoma St.
See how fun this game is? At least we have different colors than all of the other ISU's and are the only BCS ISU.

the 'new' color scheme is our true/old colors in fact.

thank goodness we finally got rid of those fashion disasters from the Gene Smith/McCarney era.

Thank God ISU got rid of the coaching disasters from the Gene Smith/McCarney era as well.

My whole thing is how many times has Cy won the mascott challenge? Cy is recognizable for a school as small as Iowa State, why change it to something that could be mistaken by the average fan for a school like Indiana State or Idaho State.

The whirly bird (or whatever it is called ) with blue didn't win the mascot challenge, Cy did. Cy is still here. The whirly bird is too.

I dont' get your point? How would Cy entering a mascot challenge in the future be affected by this change? Seriously?

Answer. It won't. No one voting for these things does a cross check with a team's mascot and the dominant schools logo.

It still doesn't change the fact that the I-State logo is extremely lame =/

I didn't agree with the switch when they made it and still like the Cy stuff (own quite a few things with Cy on them), but I think the new logo is pretty sharp. It's not as busy as the Cy logo and someday will be as recognized as the "N" or "OU" logos. Gonna take a few big wins over the power houses of the Big XII to do it.

itll also help when all of the tv stations update the logos (fox sports, im looking at you)

I've accpeted the I-State logo but I'm not the biggest fan of it. People who make fun of it to me say "Are you Indiana State? Are you Illinois State? Are you Iceland State? What the hell is I-State?" They kind of have a point

Yeah because when you see some dolt wearing a yellow hat with a black "I" on it you think to ask if they are Idaho or Iowa. People didn't know the old logo and won't know I State until we win and are on TV a lot. I lived out of state and always got asked about the punching Cy and the walking Cy. "why do you have a bird as a mascot?" that is a question I answer all the time. I love to answer the question but it still gets asked

The Indiana State, Illinois State and Idaho State arguments are pretty lame. I am sorry but those programs just don't have a lot of people wearing their gear and anyone asking you if you are a fan of those schools is just giving you crapola.

It would be like me asking you if UNI stood for Univ of Northern Idaho

I'm ignorant? I'm not the one claiming that jersey sales at one national park gift shop are reason enough to change the logo back. You're setting that bar pretty high when it comes to ignorance. If you don't want your opinions to be ridiculed, make better points.

I actually think I-State looks like a real college logo. It's cool. The arguments towards Indiana State, Idaho State, etc. are about as dumb as saying Nebraska should get rid of the Big Red N because they might be mistake for New Hampshire, Nevada, etc.

If we win and start to get some national attention, everyone will know with 100% certainty who I-State is.

Whatever... you can't argue with dumb.

My only point is "CY" without the blue is pretty cool and would sell well. I don't like the I State logo, and I won't like the I State logo.

Oh and people buy things cause they look cool, even in a lowly National Park town seeing 1,000's a day or in LA or in NY.

People buy South Carolina gear cause it said "Gamecocks" or 'Cocks" on it. They buy "gear" because of images or recognition.

CY has it! I STATE doesn't.

Our current I-State logo has no staying power if we don't get a lot better. It will be replaced as soon as a new athletic director comes in and hires a new marketing staff.
The only way it stays any length of time is if we win big for a period. If Iowa or K-State had been losing or mediocre, the Tiger Hawk and Power Cat logos wouldn't be around anymore either.

I love the whirly bird. My next tattoo is going to be the whirly bird. That being said, I want I State to stay. And PLEASE keep the color scheme!

i think the "secondary mark" aka the bird.. is much cooler than I State. Although, i've been told that the ISU football helmets are bad ***.

I always got questions about Cy. "Why is your logo a bird when you're the Cyclones?"
Whenever I get this question, it gives me an opportunity to give them a brief history of Iowa State athletics.

Tell that to Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Miami, Kansas, Mizzou, OSU, Oregon, etc...
Because schools like Nebraska and Oklahoma have had the same logo on their helmets for DECADES. Miami is going into their 40th year of having the same logo on their helmet. And even though Kansas just changed their uniforms not too many years ago, they still have their jayhawk at mid-field and mid-court while their helmet reads "KU". If Iowa State wants an identity (Pollard's reasoning for the logo change,) they need to decide on one and stay with it. Based on history, ISU will be changing the logo and look in the next 10-12 years.

I really would not have a problem with the "I-State" logo on the helmets and uniforms if they were to put the update "Cy" logo at mid-field and mid-court.
