The Roll Clones thing is definitely a new Cyclone era thing and even though I graduated two years ago, I cringe at it...like can we be original in something? lolI hear "Roll Clones" every now and then and I shake my head back and forth so violently that I get dizzy and pass out.
I have no idea, but I'm assuming it's because Gary Glitter is a pedophile.I miss the "Hey, Go State!" cheer the most....not entirely sure why the band doesn't play it anymore...ALSO I wish the band would stop playing Sweet Caroline during their pregame at bowl games....it's kind of setting us up for failure I feel lol
I'm guessing they didn't care for "We're gonna beat the **** outta you, and you, and you", but damnit McDermott was terrible, all we had was swearingI miss the "Hey, Go State!" cheer the most....not entirely sure why the band doesn't play it anymore...ALSO I wish the band would stop playing Sweet Caroline during their pregame at bowl games....it's kind of setting us up for failure I feel lol

Mitch 'Chuck' McGary stepped on somebody, Ejim? I doubt it was intentional but he started playing like crap once that chant started so the students poured it onHilton did the same thing to McGreary in 2013 although I'm not sure what he did to deserve it. He was a legit player and I don't recall any hollow antics.
I like the Juicy Wiggle... but only at football games.Juicy Wiggle seems incredibly forced at this point
I really have no idea why they did that. I'm still trying to figure out why the dude had the pineapple at this years game. I had just gotten used to raising the shoes for the kickoff, but now a damn pineapple?
Oh, I think that is just college kids being silly
Yes.I was more surprised he got it in. You could mess someone up with one of those.
Back in the day we used to play Happy Trails when an opposing player fouled out.I'd be ok if I never heard the left right chant again after a player fouls out

During the "F$%@ Bohannon" game, my 13 year old step-daughter asked me why they were saying that. During a timeout, I gave her a brief history (including "the shoes" story, the "fight" story, and his general reputation as a jerk dating back to his days at Linn-Mar). She replied "Linn-Mar! Bohannon went to Linn-Mar! That's all I needed to know. I hate him!"
Awesome!
Do the students still do the "Kick'em in the right knee, kick'em in the left knee, kick'em in the we need a touchdown." cheer?
Because people chant non-family friendly stuff during it. Same reason why Go Cyclones Go (Don't Know the Words) has been on the chopping block of football pregame many times.
Hey now just because everyone is jealous of those of us blessed enough to go to Linn-Mar...![]()
1. "Cyclone Power" sounds like every high school chant. So unoriginal. I've even seen OSU and Tech say, "Cowboy Power, Raider Power" in their games. Even other schools around the country say their nickname, followed by POWER.
Honestly, we should say "Cyclone Warning!" This would sound so much better and would be unique. I like the student section's enthusiasm when they get it going, but just change the word Power to Warning and we'd have something better.
2. The Tornado Sirens are awesome. They've been a very nice touch the last couple of years. I have had many Big 12 brethren state down here in KC that it is pretty cool that we have incorporated that into our games. Touch Downs, big plays, the start up to the game.... the siren just works. We're the Cyclones and it makes sense. They (Big 12 brethren) always say when you hear that sound, you know you're playing ISU.
3. Sweet Caroline I feel is a great tradition now. I know it brings a smile to my face in the moment because it is the sound of ISU winning. Still, there are rules with it. The song should ONLY be played following a VICTORY. Never before, (like in the 3rd quarter for FB, or even before the game is even played, etc...) Also, I can't believe the Athletic Department can't cue special moments of the song to make it more "Iowa Statey" via utilizing the video board for all to see.
(Instead of saying the part 'ba - ba - ba!' It needs to be prompted on the video board as 'I - S - U!' .... and the other part; 'Good times never feel so good' - instead of 'so good! so good!' it should be chanted: 'GO STATE! GO STATE!') This is simple stuff that the video board could easily capture and the crowd would join in unison. These little elements would change the song for the better, dramatically. Thus, many more ISU fans will enjoy it more.
