In conclusion, fix the sound systems. Bring back old Hilton lighting. And the best new traditions are the ones tied to winning and when fans fully embrace them.

IMO WI does a great job with in-game traditions and many weren't implemented until their program was well established, example 'Jump Around' was just a random thing they did in like '98 and it stuck.

I’ve said this before and I agree, Bells of Iowa State sucks. It sounds like a funeral song. No other school I’ve been to has as bad of a song played before a game
This. I don’t care either way about the other stuff. You’re NEVER going to keep everyone happy.

HOWEVER, the Bells of Iowa State is absolutely horrible, no one likes it and it completely does the opposite of what a song should be doing at the time that it is. If there is some sentimental reason that is deeply meaningful, play it at a
Different time then. At a band concert or something. Not when it is played now. Whatever old balls, rich guy that is pushing that behind the scenes needs to smacked upside the head.

I agree the Cyclone power chant is lame, but it is what it is. Juicy wiggle is also derogatory towards women.
I also don't like Sweet Caroline, never have.
One of our gymnastics gals used Juicy Wiggle as the music for her floor routine in the ISU vs. Hoks meet. She did not seem to be bothered....

Yeah, I like to joke that Wisconsin football games are a sing along with some football thrown in. And I think juicy wiggle/jump around are equivalent

In terms of the alma mater, I think it’s fine where it is and I don’t think it sucks the energy out of stadium. Plus Wisconsin’s alma mater is slower and they play it last thing of half-time and it’s fine.

I had to check the lyrics. There is absolutely nothing derogatory about women in the song.

Song still sucks.

Not overtly, but it's definitely about women shaking their butt.

It's about a bar full of people doing a stupid dance. And yes, the bar does have women in it. And he gets between two women doing the stupid dance and asks them what it is. Then he talks a big game about how well he's going to do the stupid dance, but seems to freeze up. Then he gets some booze, plays some piano and asks everybody to do the stupid dance.

That's pretty much the plot based on the lyrics. It's not even covertly derogatory.

if you think Juicy Wiggle is derogatory toward women, then you might want to not have ISU athletics play any of their music on their playlist

Thanks for this analysis. Admittedly, I had not listened too closely to the "story" in the song.

Oh you should check out the lyrics. Some real deep stuff. Very engrossing.

I think the lyrical torch has officially been passed from Dylan and Prine.

OK. I didn't throw out the word derogatory. I just said it referenced women shaking their butts. Which the dance is about. I also am not at all invested in this song, so that's cool.

Well, like you said, you haven’t been back too often. For those of us that go to pretty much all of the games, take our word for it, they need to play it after the game is over like they do for basketball.
I mean, I'm aware that it dulls the crowd. I just don't think that bleeds over into the game, or even when the team comes on the field. And any thought that it does is really just speculation since we haven't seen it both ways.

I also think it doesn't have to dull the crowd if people embraced it as a tradition, like Wisconsin as a couple others have said. I honestly don't think the crowd should need any outside motivation to be engaged in the atmosphere, but obviously that doesn't work in practice.

I have shaken my butt while this song is playing in Jack Trice. I believe those sitting around me in section 12 likely feel their eyes have been violated by the movements of my moneymaker.

1. It’s been years since sweet Caroline has been played any time except after a big win. So if you are complaining about the timing of the song, stop. It has not been an issue.

2. Juicy Wiggle is great. Even if you hate the song or the dance, who isn’t happy when they hear that song? It means a good thing has happened.

3. People ***** about us not doing anything original. Juicy Wiggle is original. It’s ours.

4. Tim Floyd spent his time here trying to get the basketball crowds to cheer hard on defense. It only sort of worked. I think they are stupid to try and ram the kill cheer down the fans’ throats. Hilton crowds are many things but we don’t like to be told what to do. Personally I’m too busy cheering to count how many stops we’ve had. Maybe they can get it going with the students but I doubt it.

5. Does the cyclone power cheer even happen anymore except at pep rallies? Why are we complaining about it?

6. The bottom line with a lot of these things is if people like them they stick. It seems like everyone ******* about sweet Caroline but when we win a game there’s 40,000 people enjoying it.

Since not everyone likes Sweet Caroline we will meet in the middle and playing Smoke on the Water after victories.

You're welcome.

Why wouldn’t we replace Juicy Wiggle with Cyclone by Baby Bash? If we’re digging into the late 2000’s/early 2010’s bin, let’s get a song with a connection to our mascot.

I like the rhythm of Juicy Wiggle, but LMFAO is elite levels of cringiness. It has big “Swag, ironic mustache, #Girlboss” energy to me
