Not desperate, but interested. I'm not inclined to waste the time of a government employee (who is probably not thrilled that you posted her email address) and not all that interested in the "official story." However, I really enjoy reading the posts of construction people who understand what is happening, sometimes have inside information, and who don't have to give a company line.

The government employee whose email address is listed on the state's Major Construction Projects page as the point of contact for this particular job? As in, it's that person's job to answer questions about the project?
Yes, but still I don't want to waste her time answering questions from a doofus like me. I would rather waste my time asking questions here.
She may not like it, but she's a public employee with her email displayed on a public website as a public contact. Not exactly violating her privacy here.Not desperate, but interested. I heard some rumblings that they are going to be cutting it close to open it for this football season...
You talking about the 2020 season opener?
Bridge is now 90% done so hopefully this is done by football season.

Its amazing how much faster it seems like the 141 interchange off 35/80 is going.

Dont forget they had a really wet spring to deal with that cost them quite a few days. Im happy with the progress and them not mucking up the traffic to bad during my commute.
The 30 interchange started when I was still in school. I graduated over 2 years ago
part of preparing that stretch for 3 lanes in each direction between ankeny and ames i think. though that's a ways off still, somehow, despite it being needed 10 years ago.
