Hunter Dekkers Concerns?

From what I have seen is that he runs har, throws hard, and plays with toughness. If he struggles, they will find someone else.

We will hear more throughout camp.
There’s just not a lot going on right now.
With that said, perhaps more than any other position, you don’t really know what you’ve got at QB until the game is live.
Do you want our coaches to say he will be great/bad because of what they’ve seen in practice? Just not logical

Just my opinion, but I think he'll do just fine. So much of it depends on other players, though. Do we have a running game that opponents have to respect? Do we have WRs that can get open and also stretch the field? Is the protection OK? Are there TEs that step up and be that safety valve?

I believe that Dekkers has a big arm that can make deep throws. He's gained the trust of the coaches and players. I also think that he'll be a real threat on zone read as long as the coaches allow him to keep it. That said, if we ask him to do the same things that Purdy did, he's being set up to fail. He's not going to be as accurate as Purdy with the short to medium passes. Play to his strengths and if the rest of the offense steps up around him, he'll be every bit as good as Purdy in his own way.

Yea, you know, I love Campbell, but he's very vanilla in his pressers. His interviews on the pods with CW are much better, but he's still very guarded with his answers. I'm fine with how he handles everything. I just don't take much away from his interviews that sway my optimism/pessimism a great deal.

Not trying to say anything negative about Campbell, but I don't really listen to his press conferences and interviews. He's so guarded in what he says that you can't really glean much from it.

This contrasts with, say, TJ, where he'll tell you just about everything.

I have very few concerns. Only concern is that there isn't much depth behind him. If there were concerns I doubt it would essentially be his job to lose

Blum recently posted on this board a quote from a coaching staff member something to the effect of “if he has the kind of season we think he will, the big boys will come calling after the season”. Too lazy to find the thread
That's the kind of buzz I was hoping for. Didn't catch it so thanks. :-)

Dekkers will be better than Purdy. He beat out the other 3/4* QB from his class and made him transfer.

Aidan Boumann is not as athletic or talented as Dekkers. Dekkers has more raw physical talent than Purdy. Lots of potential.

I imagine I'll catch flack for this post but wanted to ask anyways. I'm a bit nonplussed by CMC et al. comments on Dekkers. Anyone infer concern about Dekkers putting it all together? I haven't felt a lot of enthusiasm between Blum and Williams, or CMC, which I guess I wanted to see between the lines of coach speak. I feel like I'm used to hearing more buzz and excited optimism around a rising starting QB, especially with his potential. Obviously it's to be expected at this time of year- you have to see it on the field, so we are holding our collective breath. He has all the tools but how quickly can he reach his potential? yada yada.

Anyone else?
You’re joking, right?

If anything, they aren’t “excited”, they’re confident.

Guess which one I’d rather have?
