How Far Do We Go?

Even with less than ten games to go, I still can't get a read on this team. Some days, they look like a Final Four team like at Kansas or vs Gonzaga. Other days... not so much. So what do you guys think? How far does Iowa State go this year?
Elite 8. But seriously, if Young continues to improve, that might be realistic. He could hit the typical freshman wall as well and then we would be lucky to get out of round 1. Interior play is the X factor for this team.

How far do we go? As far as our seniors decide to go. The talent is there.

Talent....hmmm , but with no margin for error. Rebounding, post defense, & limited post scoring will surely get exposed to a degree, that good guard play can't totally compensate for sooner than later.

Mark this sh!7 down, because we're going to the elite eight. Here's why...

March Madness is about guard play, and we've got guards in spades. We're going to run into a few teams with monsters at the 4 and 5 spots, but we'll counter that with steals, ball denial, doubling, and hitting our outside shots.

This team will get it going in March. It's going to be glorious.

It is apparent that this team will go as far as their 3 point shooting will take them. It is essential that Matt or Naz continue to show up with some regularity. Outside of the obvious improved play of Solomon, I think that hidden in all of this is the improved shooting that Donovan has shown of late. He has hit some big 3's and played with much poise over the past 3-4 weeks. I tend to agree with WIB's assessment.

If Solomon Young can continue to play like tonight, you may be right

at this point round of 32 is my guess. will see how we finish the season, and see if the emergence of Young is one of consistency, or if he is hit or miss as freshman are prone to be.

ISU will go as far as Burton and the post players.

It is known what this team is getting with everyone else, but those 2 mentioned above are the wildcards. If we could get solid post play and "Good Deonte" then ISU is lethal.

Strengths: Experience, Defense, Guard play, 3 pt shooting, Turnover Margin/Differential
Weaknesses: Rebounding, Dominant offensive player, Post-defense, FT attempts & %

Young emerging really could impact our run. I think the threat of someone that can catch and score will open up our shooters and change the effectiveness of our pick and roll.

I'm probably drinking the Koolaid but this is exactly what we needed to make it out of the first weekend.

After watching Young last night, I'm convinced we have a legit shot at the Final 4 this year. This team is coming together at just the right time.

Wall??? he's started 2 games and played sparingly before that. He should be fresh!

You aren't being serious, are you? ... one game at a time. While encouraging and exciting, we didn't beat Oregon, Gonzaga, or Villanova last night. Geezer

One game at a time. The focus is TCU and getting revenge on that squad in Hilton. Keep the sharp TEAM play going Cyclones!

All the way to Lincoln Way....whoops wrong sport! It's all going to come down to the match up naturally. If we have to rely on the 3 ball and only the 3 ball I'm guessing early exit. I would love to be proven wrong though.

TCU will come in very desperate, the schedule for them has serious obsticles. Will be a very good test for us, even in Hilton.

Especially since our guys were quoted as saying they've been playing better on the road. Go figure.
