Anyone hiked much in Breckenridge? Headed there in 6 weeks. Plan to do Quandry Peak but don’t have much else planned for hikes and need more.
Quandary is a great first 14er but is getting stupid crowded. Really, all of those 14ers near tourist towns are crowded but fun.

Add Mt Sherman, and the Democrat/Lincoln/Bross hike to your itinerary

My favorite is Mt St Helens. 5 miles but that is the deceptive part of it. The hike is straight up: 4,500 elevation gain over 5 miles. It is classified as a Strenuous Hike / Easy Climb. It's one like no other I've ever been on. It is basically chunked into thirds. 1st phase is the nice pretty hike through the trees. 2nd is the boulder climb- no trail just climbing boulders that blew off the top during the eruption. Climb to one post marker, look for the next and start making your way there. The 3rd is by far the most difficult, the straight up "ash fall" of loose and powdery ash/rock/sand. 1 step up only to slide back 2. It's certainly work to get there, but man it was pretty. Best and most ironic part of it was, I finally make it to the top after 4 hours and there's only like 8 people up there. 5 of them were from Iowa wearing Iowa State shirts. It was their 2nd time, the parents brought their kids back now that they were bigger, older, and stronger.
For people that like the workout aspect, Barr trail up Pikes Peak is one hell of a physical challenge. 13 miles one way and 7800 ft of elevation change. Lots of people at the top since it’s a tourist spot that you can ride the tram or drive up the highway to.

Believe Democrat/Lincoln/Bross hike is closed again due to liability concerns from the landowners.

Near Breckinridge or in general? My favorite 14ers are in the San Juans.

I have done most of the 14k in Colorado. My favorite spot though is St Marys Glacier. It's an easy hike and everyone can do it. I just love that area. Near Greys and Torres, which is an easy 14k mountain and a fun hike. Longs Peak is a challenge but I have done that a few times. I don't really get down with The Brecknridge area just do to it being a really really bad tourist spot. I prefer Estes Area and down near Greys and Torres.

Damn it. I was up in that area last year and didn’t do st Mary’s glacier.

Talk about Greys and Torres. I have heard that trailhead can be a pain to get to much less get a parking spot. How far of a drive would the trailhead be from Breckinridge? An hour?

It’s a little further from Breckinridge than an hour. The trailhead road is like driving up a rocky terrain. Unless I have a truck or a good SUV, not like a designer SUV, just park at the entrance and walk. The road is not maintained.

Yeah St Marys is glorious and rather easy. My daughter did it when she was 7 with no problem. You would love it

Yep - sure was!

Family group of 9 of us, ranging from 8yo to 50yo did a -6mile loop from Glacier Gorge to Bear Lake. Oldest daughter was reppin' with a marching band shirt. That was on July 11th.

Shenandoah National Park is beautiful and has a variety of trails. Close to many historical sites as well.

Dude, you didn’t do Emerald? That one is amazing and you were right there!
I know!! But here's the thing - we were pushing our luck as it was with the 12 & under crowd, and the out & back that would have required was not in the cards.
