Kingsbury would be a good fit with the current personnel. Houston runs a similar offense and he was the QB coach with Holgerson. Holgerson was the OC that offered JB.

I think we want a run-first spread as opposed to a video game-type spread like Houston. Nothing wrong with that style in the south, but I don't think it would produce consistent results here.

He was pretty bad at Auburn. What was La Tech like this year, offensively?

The numbers I'm looking at? Nothing to be too amped about. 83rd in NCAA in yards per play and 70th in points per possession.

Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

Someone mentioned the Oregon Wr coach in the Tom Herman thread. I think that would be a good way to look.

I agree with cyclonez7. I'm wondering how much of that offensive production was because of Keenum.

Do you think Herman was forced out? His contract expired this year and was getting paid well.

No. If a coach isn't good enough for ISU he surely isn't for OSU.

Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

whoever comes in it will take a least 2 years for the offense to be any good....this blows especially for Wally. Everyone know it won't be ISU's offense that will win us games next year.

Also, what about Herman's recruits for this year?

Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

With Kingsbury's Big 12 ties, I could see him wanting to be in this league. It's a guarantee that Sumlin won't be in the Big 12.

Yup. Looks like a done deal for Sumlin to TAMU, a lot of their fans arent happy about it.

Of course, wasnt tom herman's offense a pretty pass-happy offense at rice too? Gotta use the talent you've got, and if you've got Case Keenum you're putting it in the air.

Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

My vote would be to hire Scott Frost, wr coach at Oregon. Midwest ties, knows Chip Kelly's spread inside and out. Great recruiter.

I don't agree with that at all. We've got a lot of returning talent next year, especially in the skill positions. Who's to say the new hire isn't the guy we expected Herman to be when he was hired? There's a ton of room for improvement in our offense, and I have full faith the CPR will find the guy to bring out the best in what we have coming back. I'm honesly kind of excited about this.

Last time I will say this, but it has to be a spread offense OC. I don't think Rhoads is dumb enough to go get anything other than a spread offense OC.

I like Scott Frost as #1, after that I still liked McFarland's offense and wouldn't hate that...

What are the chances Bleil or Messingham calls offense and they hire a QB coach?

Re: ***Offensive Coordinator Search Thread***

We can't afford to get out of the spread at this point. It'd sit back this team 3 or 4 years.

Look at you with your one point you're going to hammer on every 2 minutes!

We probably should stick with the spread, although there's a small part of me that thinks it would be fun to go all Georgia Tech and implement some sort of left-field offense that the whole conference would only see once a year.
