Hate for lolo?

There's no defending the article, that much is for certain. But most non-track fans do not care about what someone does in the World Championships, or Indoor World Championships or even in College, the Olympics is basically the only time a majority of them I would guess would even watch track and field.

So you're excusing ignorance, that's the point of your continual posts in this thread? What a waste.

Well, she could stop posing nude in magazines. I don't hold it against her for trying to get what she can, while she can but to say that she can't help help all this attention she gets is ridiculous.

I think Tebow is an apt comparison. Both have been successful in their careers but their fame comes mostly from things outside of what they've done on the field/track. Both have drawn the scorn of some of their fellow competitors for having more fame than people who are more accomplished than they are.

Ridiculous would be turning down the bucket of money im sure that they threw her way to pose in the magazine.
She cant help being hot is what i said.

What about the reverse?

Is it okay to hate on Brittany Griner because "she looks like a man" as many have pointed out here, even though she is a very accomplished basketball player?

The only point I was trying to make earlier is that many here and across the nation that were so "outraged" over it show the SAME EXACT sexist attitude toward "ugly, accomplished" athletes, and toward "hot, but not accomplished to their arbitrary level of acceptability".

That's all I was trying to say. Not that Lolo isn't accomplished, and not that she doesn't deserve any attention at all. Just many of the outraged have such a blatantly obvious double-standard that their "outrage" becomes laughable.

Video that her teammates in the 110m hurdles didn't even like Lolo.

Here's Video Evidence That Lolo Jones's Teammates Straight Up Do Not Like Her

Clearly, these two want their moment in the spotlight because it's well deserved, but they come off as bitter in their moment of triumph. The positive attention won't last long and few people will have much good feeling about these ladies if they don't class up their act and fast. I don't need to hear total platitudes and fakery, but someone needs to pull them aside and give them some etiquette and sportsmanship tips, because I think they come off as trashy, finger-wagging reality show wannabes. If they want to replace Jones at the heart of the media's focus on the U.S. sprint hurdlers, they are off to a bad start. You catch more (positive press) with honey, than vinegar.

I agree. If their goal was to make themselves look better by slamming their teammate they failed miserably. If you don't have anything good to say about your teammate politely decline to answer the question.

Why woud they be jealous? They actually have Olympic Medals.

How did LoLo not earn a spot? Did LoLo not work hard coming off spinal chord surgery to get on the team? Did LoLo not do what she needed to do?

It's not a beauty contest (obviously since they made the team).

"....the three girls that earned their spot and they got their medals and they worked hard and did what they needed to do, prevailed"

... or nudity, as the case may be.

The point is, Lolo's time in the spotlight is waning, too. Had it not been for the NYT article, and the controversy it created, she'd be well on her way back to relative obscurity. She probably won't be making another Olympic team, and the media is quick to forget the darlings it creates when their draw fades. Give it a month and the general public won't care about her or her teammates anymore.

Definitely agree. I think the way they are acting now is worse than the NYT article.

Even if Lolo is the worst teammate ever - which may be the case, who knows - they are only succeeding in sullying their own reputations. Get a grip and act like Olympic Champions not junior high school girls.

I agree and that's why I don't blame her for getting everything she can. However, she can't have her cake and eat it too. She has to understand that if she takes the money and puts her face out there every chance she gets, that's going to ruffle some feathers among her competitors who are more accomplished than she is.

Endorsement/sponsorship $$$$$$

Exactly, and the fact that they medaled probably causes more of a rift than ever before. "We have gold medals, why don't we have the big buck too?" Same thing that happened to Anna Kournikova in tennis.

Face it, pretty girls are popular, it's a fact of life. And usually the prettier they are, the less they are liked by their female peers.

Where did I say that Lolo didnt earn a spot? I don't blame Lolo for doing what she has done to get paid.

I also dont begrudge the others who actually accomplished something on the biggest stage being ****** they have been over shadowed.

Kellie Wells story makes it hard to root against her when you see how much she had to overcome to reach this level and not many people out there know it because she doesnt plaster it all over the internet.
