Has being an ISU football fan nowadays really become the constant flux between - fear of a successful coach leaving & he's 1-1 so it's time for him to move on?
Why not include Fred? Tourney semi-success (Niang foot) and Big 12 Tourney success? Those were some fun ass years.
Heacock has not been a HC for years. He will be 63 in October. I am thinking he likes being DC under Campbell. So doubt he takes the job. When you fire Matt, you lose Heacock and the defense. You start with a new staff. The baby is thrown out with the bath water. Which is why the smart play is to quit being a whiny ass *****. Give the coaching changes some time.
I get that, but Iowa wasn't really dominating us. They just made a few more plays when it mattered. They had a pick 6 that essentially sealed the game for them. Nonetheless, we had the ball with more than enough time to tie the game.I guess it’s how you view it. Really felt more like he pulled the back door cover after being down 20-3. Iowa turned it In conservative mode after dominating us for 3 quarters.
I mean, weve had our best recruiting classes under CMC so im curious what level you would put him on...This is kind of the point of the thread and my OP. This is ISU, it’s been proven over and over that time is not our friend and every time we waste time we get just incrementally more behind the 8 ball. We’re a classic 1 step forward, 2 steps back school for a variety of reasons.
I think TJ can be a cycle stopper there for one reason: he is truly an ELITE recruiter. I don’t know where CMC falls on the levels of recruiters but it is certainly not elite level by any stretch of the imagination.

I’m not going nuclear. This isn’t a one game transactional feeling. It’s been a feeling since 2021. Of you can honestly tell me you think we’re going in the right direction right now then good on you. I can’t honestly say that at this time.
I think you're making the gambling thing way, way more than it actually is. Guys making a $10 bet on DraftKings isn't the same as some kind of point shaving scandal. Stupid? Yes. But is it a sign of terrible character on the team? I really don't think it is.I’ve been around for a few coaches and I’m definitely getting that feeling. McDermott, McCarney, Rhoads, Prohm. Not going to include guys like Morgan, Fred, or Chizik as those were different/very short term situations. Obviously Larry was a unique situation as well.
I’ve had this feeling before and while we’re not totally rotted out (there’s a chance CMC could bounce back a la Kirk Ferentz), I think the “rot” has definitely started to sneak in, if only just a little bit, especially with the gambling issue and it’s direct contradiction to the “5-Star Culture” mantra.
Once these young guys start doing well, the narrative will be "well it's pretty concerning they couldn't do this all year".

Were in agreement that TJ is a better recruiter, but comparing his recruiting to CMC's is a classic apples to oranges comparison. One recruits maybe 3-5 guys, the other recruits close to 25-30?This is like being the hottest chick in the fatties pageant. TJ is elite on the national level. Not historic ISU levels, not conference level, national level.

I think it is an over reaction at this point but I accept that it's more than just losing to Iowa for those folks.Yeah I don't think the Ohio game this weekend means anything important other than we win the game and look solid doing it. My point on the Iowa game is that there are threads all over the place talking about Matt Campbell and whether he should be fired after this year and a lot of it has to do with the fact that we lost to Iowa imo.
Campbell is the best recruiter we have had. Even with the step backwards Campbell is far ahead of his predecessors in having success. Name all the successful football coaches at Iowa State. Only one Coach has taken us to a NY6 Bowl and won it. And you want him fired while not having the horrendously terrible records of the previous coaches.
