I have read Chase Harper is not eligible to play, but I also hear that he is eligible. Can anybody shed some light on this subject?

Missouri has had luck with kids named Chase. I was looking forward to see how it went for us.

Was the coaching staff unaware of his eligibility while they were recruiting him? It surprises me they would get someone who cannot enroll into a university.

Double signed with a JUCO, so I'm sure they had an idea he may not make it. Maybe this freed up a schollie for Hayworth Hicks.

It happens more often than you think. Sometimes its a chance you have to take.

Of course they were aware, but it cost them nothing more than faxing him to get him to sign--and he might have qualified. Besides, I'm sure that it was also a courtesy to Darius Darks--whose family Chase Harper lives with--and helps us get our foot in the door for when Harper finishes juco.

Lighten up. Sometimes situations are a little more complex than they first appear.

We did the same thing w/ James Carpenter and I think we have a good chance of landing him for next year

Yeah, they take alot of chances..... Troy Davis, Reggie Hayward, they were risks.... everybody takes academic risks, even the power houses. We always will, good way to get a talented player who we may not have a shot with if his grades were rock solid.

I think you have that wrong. It was Darks living with Harper. To tell you the truth having watched both of these athletes perform I 'd have to say Harper might not be as fast but in all other categories he was better(academics notwithstanding)last year he had a 60 yard catch and run that was simply the single most impressive run for a HS player I had ever witness in person. He personally ran over or outran 8 Lake Travis players (Texas state 4A champions for 2007)mostly ran over, he had hands like glue. Very impressive athlete someone will miss his talents this year.:chatterbox:

of course we are going to miss him. but, we also wish him the best to get his grades back and then maybe come to I State when he is done/

I take it, then, that you haven't seen the video of Harper catching the ball...

I have seen plenty of video. I also know that all the Texas schools wanted him as a DE first. They backed off because of the academics. I see him as our first great rush end since Berryman, if he makes it here.
