Harold Nichols Cyclone Open

Diblasi lost 9-4. St. John lost 9-4. Those are both pretty discouraging results.

Other than that, it's been pretty good so far. Freshmen have won some matches that I thought were toss-ups.

Really hoping Track has this one backwards, but right now it's showing that Simmons got majored by a true freshman from Missouri. That would be an incredible disappointment.

Edit: Twitter has confirmed that he did lose. Yikes.

Parker won by major. Colbry must've gotten thrown to his back in the first and gave up 6 pt move, but is battling back and down 7-6 headed into the 3rd.

Pestano lost in SV 6-4 to a Northern Illinois wrestler. NIU guy got 5th in the MAC and didn't qualify for nationals. Another match I'd say we should've had.

Colbray was taken down and tilted quickly on the edge. The rest of the match he looked solid.

Colbray loses 6-3 in the semis. So far Parker and Straw in the finals. Harrington and Gremmel still have a shot. I think thats it for the open division.

Harrington with a close win over room partner Nick Nolting. Gremmel loses by fall to Isley from UNI.

Wagner (UNI) beat Simmons in OT on the backside. I guess Gavin DeWitt still has a shot at the finals, not sure why his weight is running so far behind, but his Semi is on deck.

Ryan Leisure vs. Tristian Lara (UNI) should be an interesting final in the JR division.

Dante, Vega and Marmolejo were all held out for breaking team rules.

Parker, DeWitt and Straw won titles. Congrats to them.

Markus Simmons and Colbray’s results were pretty disappointing to me.

It is going to be a rough year, but will be worth it in the end.

Gonna still be a tough year. Just hope we see continued improvement in all areas as the season progresses. Very disappointed in Simmons and Colbray. I just don't understand. This is the first they've seen most wrestlers in folkstyle outside of the room. I'm confident this staff will be able to work on areas of weakness in each wrestler. Good to see Harrington win and Gremmel winning on the backside. He got caught in poor position against Isley so this will be an interesting weight to watch. Curious if Colbray was handling Harrington in the room and if Colbray just hasn't carried it over to competition?

Didn't think Parker was gonna take this weight for us, but looks more like that now.

No idea the team rules those guys broke, but glad the staff is holding accountability!
