Hakeem Butler to JETS (speculation)

Just kidding......kinda. But Hakeem led the XFL in several categories and I expect that he will get invited to some NFL camps or at the least some tryouts. Maybe some low level Jets staffer is killing time today and checks out CF and can take a hint!

I think he will get a training camp offer somewhere for what he did in the xfl.

If he's not an NFL caliber receiver, then I guess my football eyes don't work anymore. He has great size and great speed for that size.
The knock on him was his ability to catch the ball. Important for a receiver :)

I know he had a great year in the XFL. Anyone have any idea what his drop rate was?

I'm basing this solely off what I've seen from St. Louis fans on twitter, but it sounds like they may still have been an issue. I'd think he'll get at least a training camp invite from somebody though, and his ceiling is still pretty high given his size and athleticism.

Seemed the games I watched he still had the same issues. Seemed to make great highlight catches outside of his body frame, but if the pass would hit him between the numbers he still drops a few. Not quite as bad as it used to be, but still an issue.

Neither were the issue, it was the drops. Back in summer 2019 there were videos of him on Twitter with multiple drops at open practice unfortunately. If he got that squared away he will get another shot.

I wonder if anyone bothers to balance the drops with "failed to get open at all"? I'd take a chance on a guy that gets open more frequently that sometimes drops it.

You don’t play in the NFL (very long, if at all) if you can’t do either of those things. One is really no more important than the other, because if you have the drops, it’s virtually the same as not being open.

Actually, if you catch everything thrown your way, you probably have a better shot, because while man coverage would be a problem, a guy like that can still sit down in a zone.
