Great old movies that stand the test of time

I had a list in my head, but have already been mentioned. I will add:

Stagecoach - John Ford directing John Wayne. It's amazing.

King Kong - 1933 version. Not the first monster movie, but the one that set the standard for all that followed.

Not sure I’d love A Hard Day’s Night if I wasn’t a Beatles fan but since I am I think it’s so fun.

I also love it! I tried to show it to @Mr Janny a couple of years ago, and he could not have possibly hated it more.

Also:
Pride of the Yankees
Gone With the Wind
Rebel Without a Cause
It’s a Wonderful Life
To Kill A Mockingbird (Gregory Peck!)
A Clockwork Orange
Mary Poppins (and I am not ashamed)

Yeah, I first saw Citizen Kane in a theater in the '80s. I am really glad I first saw it that way.

Citizen Kane should be on the list for the cinematography alone. There were some groundbreaking things done in that film that we take for granted now.

William Randolph Hearst is my second cousin five times removed. That being said, other than the cinematography aforementioned, I just cannot bring myself to love this movie.

Rear Window - 1954 - (Jimmy Stewart & Grace Kelly) is one of my all time favorites! This is a psychological thriller (murder "mystery") without blood or gore - just great acting and excellent filming. I have seen a number of Alfred Hitchcock films, and this is still my favorite! BTW, I took Theater 106 at ISU (late 80s) and was introduced to this film by the instructors (there were two of them - don't remember their names) of the class. In fact, they also introduced me to Singin' in the Rain (another great film). Lastly, almost any film that Jimmy Stewart starred in holds up well - he is just THAT GOOD of an actor!

I got to your post and didn't get any farther, so if someone has mentioned " North by Northwest'" already I apologize.

This is an awesome movie.
