I think Scott Frost's buy-out helped too.I think Fred bought himself another year.
He could pass for Fran McCaffery's brother or sister. He was a perfect fit for Lubbock. He looked like Billy Jean King, or someone's cross-dressing weird uncle.
He had a lot of success in Louisville which is probably culturally pretty similar to Tech. Also, I believe they have bathrooms in Lubbock for the occasional quick and indiscrete rendezvous. No way Pitino takes Tech over St John's or Georgetown, right?
If he does, I am going to need cameras on him at all times in Lubbock. Hilarious.
Funny how some on here didn’t think what he said was that bad…. when in fact…. it was awful and it cost him his job.
He will hold out for Iowa and wait until Fran takes the ND job.
Yup, that’s a plan, let‘s hire a 70 year old coach.Sounds like a Taco Tech decision.

I agree with the poster who said they may look at Univ North Texas' coach. Texas schools have a way of always wanting a coach from that state.I hope they fall. The problem to me is that Tech has a lot of money.
Tech figures if they get them 70 plus they can cut the pay by their SS benefits and save on insurance with Medicare.Adams wasn’t old enough. Really wanted to push into the AARP ranks.
What if Devries takes the ND job?
Wayne MorganIt was a weird hire. Kind of reminds me of when that old dude got the WVU football job after Rich Rod left. May have made some sense in the extreme short term but was unlikely to be a long term solution.
Makes sense. They just wanted to move on. This wasn't a 'for cause' situation.https://www.lubbockonline.com/story...h-mark-adams-agree-to-settlement/69996002007/
Texas Tech has agreed to pay former Red Raiders basketball coach Mark Adams $3.9 million, less taxes and withholdings, plus a $200,000 retention bonus in a legal settlement the two sides reached this week leading up to Adams' resignation.
