I would think immediately eligible transfers would be where we could make some hay. I do think that Steve's somewhat tenuous job security could have an adverse effect on his ability to recruit the high school ranks. I can imagine that will be used negatively against him. But not being able to sell someone on basically giving them the keys to the car next year is tough to understand.

I think it has a lot to do with the horrible year they had. GTs want to go to the tournament. Players might not see the players here to get that done.

missouri/marquette/iowa state all have coaches trying to save their jobs. we're in terrible shape like a lot of other teams that are recruiting the guys we want.

In those 40 plus years how have you not figured out the difference between whining and pointing out the ******* obvious?

The program is circling the drain, time to come to grips with it.
Pointing out the obvious would be us saying Prohm and Iowa State are having a tough time so far trying to get people to transfer. There are a variety of reasons as to why they haven't had luck so far, but it should definitely be mentioned that guys not being able to come to Ames and meet Prohm face to face is not helping.

It's not a coincidence guys are choosing big named schools or schools that are closer in proximity to their last program. Sitting here and yelling the sky is falling because we haven't signed someone yet is pointless. Everyone is aware we need a couple of good guys if we're going to be competitive next year. The comments about "circling the drain" or Prohm's the "new Lickliter" are dumb. We're not even close to Lickliter bad, it would take a few more years of that and Prohm won't be around long enough for that to possibly happen.

I'm a prohm skeptic, and bearish about our future.

Its been obvious since Iowa/A&M/KU games at Hilton that we were going to need a major talent injection this spring, not just guys to fill a role. Steve needs a miracle.

But let's throw out the previous years comparisons given covid - this is unchartered territory. Who knows/cares what the "normal" timeline should be right now.

But Steve has one Hail Mary left....

If NCAA votes in June to allow immediate eligibility for transfers, then look out. There's another 100+ kids ready to make move......its going to be insane.

I think it is the overall conference record, and 2 of the last 3 years being terrible, are what people are referencing. Having to get transfers is just one of the many issues with this program, and gets lumped into roster management, which seems to be the biggest issue with this guy.

Tough to blame the GT kids for not wanting to come here, why would someone in that position transfer to a rebuild for the final year or eligibility? It'll be a tough sell even for the sit out guys. You're probably looking at a situation similar to Fred's first couple of years, if you want talent, you may have to bring in kids with some baggage.

Technically, Hans Brase's knee brace may have weighed more than some suitcases.

Yes, but haven't we already hashed out those types of conversations during last season? I understand why people are starting to get upset again. We all know we needed immediately eligible guys to come here and so far aren't having any luck, that creates a load of uncertainty and concerns, however I think it's still far too early to be already saying next season is a lost cause. I think the overreacting is premature and there will be a time for that in the future if in say.. two months we're still staring at 4 open roster spots. THAT would be the time to start freaking out.

Uh, have you seen this?

No. Nothing has changed since the end of the season, except we lost 3 players. In theory, we have gotten worse and nobody trusts this staff to do anything that will make us better.

The season ended a month ago, we lost 3 of the worst players statistically from last year (Grill being a surprise), and now we're trying to get players to come to a school without them being able to meet the coach in person or see any of our facilities.

If people expected Prohm was going to be able fix this roster situation in a month's time, then that's on them. Recruiting in the spring is always a fluid situation and now this got even more chaotic due to this pandemic and could even get crazier if the NCAA allows players to transfer without having to sit out a year. I'm not denying anyone's concerns but think they're just too early at this point. There will be a time for a complete meltdown for the 2020 season, but the 1st / 2nd week of April isn't the time yet.

For crying out loud. How many thumb suckers do we have on this board? In my 40 plus years as a Cyclone, I've never heard so much whining.

It’s what happens when a coach wins 13 & 12 games in Year 3 & 5. You have to go back to 2002 to find a year when we won less than 14 games.

Do us a favor and go somewhere else to have your little pitty party. Isn't there a "Fire Prohm" page for your kind?
Yes, it was started after we lost as a 6 seed in the NCAA tournament.

We didn't lose 3. We lost 5 because two of his recruits didn't make it to the first game. Besides he wasn't able to ever develop Griffin and Lewis into even role players. Then lost Grill for reasons nobody can really say. Is some of that on them? Sure, but it is a coaches job to get the best out of his guys. Did he do that with Haliburton? He did. But his misses are greater than his success and that is the problem.

The virus canceled the tournament, which moved the timeline up on all of this stuff. Yes it is only the second week of April, but a good amount of the top tier guys are already off the board.

Almost every single thing you stated above has been hashed out on here a million times and provides nothing to the argument at this point in time. Also, I would say his hits have been too good in which they leave early and then so causes the "misses" to have to play. In the end it's on Prohm, that's for sure. His time is running out here.

And of course the timeline got moved but not in the direction you're thinking. It didn't move in a linear motion, rather it's now like a corkscrew. This whole thing is all sorts of messed up. Guys aren't able to speak face-to-face with their coaches or teammates to talk about the possibility of transferring. Guys are second guessing leaving their schools altogether. Visits are now being made virtually which is a tremendous factor as well. That all isn't even mentioning they're academic lives being thrown completely in a loop with having to transition to online classes, which probably has a pretty large effect on these guys that are trying to graduate this semester.

Do you spend your whole life being a whiny ***** or do you just reserve it for this board?

I've defended Prohm pretty hard on this board, especially through '18-'19. When the circumstances changed, I did too. What should I be talking about?

I would think immediately eligible transfers would be where we could make some hay.

Prohm has recruited exactly zero impact immediately eligible transfers. Before somebody says Bolton, it wasn't exactly a sure thing he gets the waiver.

With our compliance department it pretty much was and they knew it

I stand corrected. One.

Point is, immediate eligible transfers don't appear to be Prohm's strength in recruiting. I imagine the pandemic exacerbates that.
