Get your stimulus check payment

What single person can't go 20 days on $1200 bucks. They are doing something wrong... even living in LA or something that should last some time. $1200 here would buy about 2 months rent. Probably a full months living expenses.

Colorado checking in.

$1200 leaves me $10 short on monthly rent on a 1-bedroom apartment, no frills (unless a dishwasher is considered one). Laundry, off-street parking (I choose not to pay, and park on the street for free), electric, cable (which I don't have - no TV) are extra. Luckily, I still have a job and over the last year built up a small emergency fund in case even that goes south.

Point being....I know people here who are desperately waiting for their $1200 so they can get a landlord off their back, pay some bills, or put a little bit of a bandaid on an emergency fund that's bleeding right now. And LA and NYC are in even worse condition.

Got a “you’re welcome” letter in the mail with Fat Don’s signature on it today... I’m guessing this is so all us plebs with direct deposit would know who the money came from?

I thought having direct deposit would avoid getting something in the mail with that POS's name on it.

had to put in direct deposit info 2 weeks ago

today says april 30th

time to party, nerds

So my dad passed away in June 2018. I filed his 2018 tax return and marked it as deceased and signed it as the executor.

Today I received his stimulus check made out to:

Pay to the order of: T____ H Schroeder DECD
Curtis Schroeder

I am really tempted to sign and deposit it since my name is on the check.

What is preventing me from doing this is the envelope that a box to check and remail if the recipient is deceased with a warning "Forgery of endorsements on Treasury checks is a Federal crime. Maximum penalty is a $10,000 fine and ten years imprisonment".

Technically I wouldn't be forging it since I am on the check and can endorse it. And they obviously know my dad is deceased since they have "deceased" right on the check".

I need some of that world famous legal advice

If you can live with yourself after you cash it, kudos to you. Personally, I couldn't do it as I guarantee something awful would happen where it would cost me more than $1,200!

My mom passed away in October. Just handed back all the signed stuff to file electronically this morning. I’m wondering what will happen there. Technically her estate still has businesses functioning under it.

I’m not an attorney but endorsing a check that is payable to yourself is most definitely not forgery.

Received my direct deposit this morning but was less than expected. Looks like they went off our 2018 and not 2019 tax returns.
1. Depends when you filed and if the return was fully processed.
2. It'll get reconciled on your 2020 return if you're due additional funds.
