Please dont flame me for this thought im just wondering.
Does ISU ever get a chance to play on CBS i think games on CBS are great i watched the Northwestern/Illinois game on CBS last weekend and its always a great broadcast. Is it just a big 12 contract thing that we never play on there, i dont really know much about the affiliations and what not but i would love to see a ISU/KU matchup get onto CBS

Teams with one win at this point in the season don't play on CBS. Be happy if it's on the Cyclone Network or whatever they call that.

They have played on CBS in the past, but you basically have to be a top 25 team to play on CBS.

The only way we will play on CBS is if we make the NCAA tourney or get really good and have a big matchup against another good team.

Wasn't that '05 upset at KU on CBS?

It seems like it was ... and that would be the last one I recall seeing on CBS.

I think that was ABC...think.

The only regular season game I remember for certain off the top of my head that was on CBS was the 97 home game with KU. They were #1 and we were top 20. Willoughby hit 9 3's in the game and something like 7 in the first half.

I'd love to have Gus Johnson call one of our games

This is why I'd like to stay away from CBS (unless of course we're talking about NCAA tourney coverage), Johnson is awful IMO. He seems like he's trying to amplify every play, it just seems fake and rehearsed to me. But I guess that doesn't make him any different than any other play by play guy.

Watch out, you're going to have the Gus Johnson Fan Club members on this board ready to hunt you down and pound you. I don't love him or hate him but the man-crush love some have for him makes me uncomfortable.

Doesn't CBS Have a contract with the Big 10 and SEC?

I know this is the case for the SEC. The Big 12 is ABC/ESPN, which is why almost all of the conference games were at least on ESPN3. I believe the last time ISU was on CBS was when we played UNC in the NCAA tournament.

Forget CBS, I can't wait until we're playing in the NCAA tournament on TruTV!

ummm...correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that what you WANT from a commentator? would you prefer someone who downplays the action then I take it? I like ones that get excited other than just treating every game they do as just another game they happen to be calling.

I would prefer that the game be the attraction, not the announcer. The guys that think people are tuning in for them are the ones that I have a big problem with. Billy Packer was that way for me, and **** Vitale is the king of it. I'd love to watch Duke/UNC tonight, but won't because I know **** will be there to ruin it. At least Packer had the decency to retire.

Now, all that said I don't have a problem with Gus Johnson. His enthusiasm seems genuine and having him nail a "RISE AND FIIIIIRRRRE" as somebody is taking a big shot really accentuates the game. That's what it should be about. He may go a little over the top once in awhile, but I can live with that as I don't notice him having an agenda. Having Vitale screem about THE DUKIES BAAABYYY while calling a Big 12 game got old 15 years ago and I can't believe ESPN keeps extending his contract. Somebody needs to take him out behind the barn and put us out of our misery (figuratively speaking of course.)

That was my first ever Cyclone game! ISU was ranked #6, KU #1, and KU won 69-62, Coincidentally enough, that game was exactly 14 years ago today!
