Gallick not competing again this year??

I was giving him the credit i think he deserves? Should i not do that? Ok, he is worthless. For all you who think i am lieing, i am a junior at isu, majoring in biology. My advisor is Denis Hix. Im obviously not giving out my name, so you can just guess at that. I didnt use paragraphs because they are needed to separate different thoughts, which there was none of. I did see the Long vs. McD match, all of them in fact. Of course he didnt tear his head off, long is a very good opponent. But i have seen the rest of his matches.
(Hey look, a new paragraph for a changed thought) Dennis wasnt back for that match, like i said he will need to build his conditioning. They said they jumped the gun by about a week with him because Nate Moore was put in the ICU for staph infection. You obviously have different opinions on the rest, which you are entitled to and dont surprise me one bit. We will see how it goes in march, but so far it should be clear iowa has been the better team.
Apparently spelling and punctuation aren't your strong points, either.

Losing Gallick hurts, no doubt, but I think every week the guys on the team show continued improvement and aggression. I think we still have a good shot at the national title. Yes, it would mean there would have to be some upsets along the way, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

My PERSONAL comparision for Nationals w/ ISU and Iowa
184 - Ward - I think Ward can get anywhere from 5th- round of 12. He just wrestles a lot of close matches, i could definataley see keddy and pucillo beating him but could see Ward beating them too....Also i have a hard time getting past the midland results. He place 7th...I know he wrestled close matches but come on...prediction 8th place.

184 Keddy - Keddy has been so up and down this year, it appears an injury was bothering him, sounds like he's on the track back w/ his win against Foster (although Foster has been hurt too). He really needs to stay away from Askern....my prediction 5th.
...

I just wanted to point something out about Wards performance at Midlands. He had two losses. He beat Currently #11 Giessen from from Stanford and #14 MIller from Central Michigan who is a defending runner up at 174and who was ranked ahead of him at the time I believe. And he lost to then ranked #1 Askren like 4-1 or something and to currently ranked #7 Caputo in overtime. His placement in that bracket wasnt ideal for him. But his performance wasnt bad. In fact he wrestled pretty well. Keddy did beat Caputo but then went on to get owned by Askren who Ward had a tight match with.

Yeah i know Ward had close matches as i posted he did, however Miller hasn't been wrestling very good up a weight. Ward always keeps it close w/ almost everyone he wrestles, while he has been wrestling good as of late because of the close scores he could get beat by a lot of people, i.e. earlier this year he lost to Iowa's backup Gambrall 6-1....he is much like Morningstall...I hope he does great and wins it, but i just don't see it happening...

I guess Ward went from a guy who didnt belong on the mat with anyone considered to be an AA last year to beating Keddy twice, a returning runner up from Central Michigan(Miller) (granted a different weight) and beat the returning runner up at 184 and former national champ from Ohio State who by the way Jake didnt beat. Yes he lost to Gambrall early in the year (Harold Nichols). But he looked very poor at the exhibition and at Harold nichols and has been much much better since.

The Dergo match he didnt look great but he lost a close match to the kid from Illinois who did possibly less than Ward did. Ward could finish anywhere from 1 to round of 12. My original point was that his performance at the midlands wasnt poor. We have gotten off track some and I apologize. But hes been a big bright point this year and I am excited about his future.

Let's cut through the BS. Are you an ISU fan or a Hawk fan? (don't worry, we all know the answer).

"I go to ISU, I just have my head on straight". You are pretty funny. I guess the real question is, do you know you are funny or do you really think you are fooling people?

Yeah i get ya cyclone 1306! I'm just being realistic, heck yes Ward has been a bright spot on the team so far, and i'm jacked about his potential in the years to come and hope he can break through this year and AA. He just scares me cause his matches are so close and i could see him getting upset at anytime, but yes he has made great strides this year and hopefully it continues! Just stay away from Askern!!! as i think he has just too much offense for Jerome even though the score was only 4-1 last time....

No come guys Keepdreamin really is being realistic, not so sure on the peaking stuff though...cause really no one knows about that till its all done...But realistically Iowa would have to suffer some pretty big upsets for them not to win it or we would have to wrestle out of our minds, cause every wrestler for Iowa besides 157 will be ranked in the top 10 in the nation.....no other team can come close to that...We are the closest but still would take some slip ups by them for us to overtake them and thats just being real...which i think is what keepdreamin was trying to say...

I honestly believe the best of the ISU wrestling team's performance is yet to come, these boys are significantly more aggressive and are getting better as the year wanes on.

Cannot wait for Omaha!

Gladly...I will just work my way through the weights:
125-Matt McD...he is a redshirt freshman and is already tearing peoples heads off. At this point he can finish just about any shot. He started the year off being a little more aggressive than his skills could support and reached for shots way too much, but he has been working on that and it shows and will continue. He can wrestle hard all 7 minutes and still has plenty left after.

133-Dan Dennis...Obviously slowed down by injury but is better now. It will take a little bit of time to get back on it with the conditioning but he will be there in less than a month. He is very aggressive and very quick with everything he does. Again, can go 7+ minutes hard and not tire. He has been steadily improving over his whole career and wont stop now.

141-Either Marion or Slaton...Marion is good but could still use some work. He is very quick and seems to have a pretty good gas tank. He needs to learn to stay out of trouble, which brands is good at coaching, so that will improve the longer he is there. I cant say a whole lot about Slaton because i havent seen him much this year, but from what i have he is looking good. He is very strong and very explosive. Not sure about his conditioning but we saw what he has for skill 2 years ago. 149-Metcalf...there isnt a whole lot to say here, he is metcalf. He sometimes has trouble finishing shallow shots, but he doesnt get in on many of those. As long as the person chooses to wrestle him, aka not be mueller at UNI, he will roll them.

157-Janssen...Obviously the weak link on the team. He has confidence issues. He has great shots but tends to not go at it with confidence. He has the speed but needs to build the trust in himself, with which should come from more mat time and getting some wins.

165-Morningstar(aka Morningstall)...I have always been disappointed with him. He obviously is a slow paced wrestler, which doesnt really fit into an iowa team full of go-getters. He needs to work on being more offensive. He has great shots when he uses them and really wants to. He has always been a defensive wrestler but i read an article saying brands is going to be getting on him pretty hard for it.

174-Jay...He is looking amazing right now. Aggressive but not too aggressive, quick but not too quick. He is strong and has great takedowns. When he has them down they stay there unless he wants them up. He can use arm bars as well as anyone. He is a steamroller and will keep going all year.

184-Keddy...Rebuilding from an off-season injury. This article should explain... press-citizen.com | Iowa City PluckPersona | Iowa City Press Citizen

197-Who knows...if beatty is back it will all depend on how his recovery went and everything. Lofthouse is really a 184-pounder trying to fill in the spot for now.

Hwt-Dan...Obviously he hasnt wrestled yet, but from what i hear is he is looking better than ever. If he comes back like he went out last year, he will roll. He has been keeping in shape during his recovery so that shouldnt be and issue. Last year he showed that he is a very quick hwt that tires others quickly and has moves you dont usually see in this size. He has great takedowns that arent just upperbody crap like most hwts. But we will have to see how he comes back, i bet its great.

Overall they have a very intense team. The conditioning is impressive, which will pay off in the tournament setting. They have definitely not hit a ceiling, they are just below that peak, which is where you want to be at this point.
just figured I'd separate the different thoughts - make it easier. Unless 'iowa wrestling' is just one thought. And then I stand corrected. But then I think that would require 'biology' to be just one thought...and they use paragraphs in those books. Separate it into chapters even. Rad.

Getting back to the original subject I think Dalton has done a pretty darn good job and is just starting his collegiate career. A lot to get excited about with him and what he inspires the rest of the team to do. Hopefully if the guys see him scoring some bonus points they feel the pressure to wrestle that much more aggressive and score some bonus themselves.

Wow, you are a college student? From your writing I assumed that you were in high school or something. How have you passed classes without capitalizing I or not spacing your paragraphs correctly? Oh, and I think the word you were looking for was lying, not lieing. Maybe in the future. rather than trying to explain to us what a paragraph is used for you could start using the English language correctly in the first place. It'll give you more credibility.

Sorry, I do not usually take the time to proof read and capitalize stuff on a forum post, but I will from now on to please you. I do not really care would you think about my credibility on here. Maybe if you all paid more attention to wrestling and less to specific writing issues -like this forum is for-, you would see what I am talking about. But then again, I would get sick of always being second too.

And for the record, I am an ISU student. I have always lived in a cyclone house and was a cyclone wrestling fan for years, but I have always enjoyed watching Iowa wrestling. The past few years have turned me off of the cyclones a bit, because they have just been so boring to watch. They seemed to struggle on the main stage and it was just sad. When Brands moved back to Iowa, they became a very aggressive team, which is what I like to see -and judging by other things i have read on here, you all do too-. So I would say I have been pulled slightly to the Iowa side but am still slightly neutral. But the way I see the year, Iowa should roll the competition on its way to another national championship. ISU will be better next year, but not now.

I go to ISU, i just have my head on strait. Iowa beat us twice this year, neither time with a full team! Danial Dennis is back and will be completely ready now or soon...chad beatty will probably be back by big tens, and dan erekson is coming back very soon. They will all AA. Matt McD will easily AA and is expected to be in title contention, any one of the guys they put in at 141 can easily AA, Metcalf will take it easily, Keddy will AA if he starts wrestling how he can...157 is the only weight where they cant really AA, so how do you beat that??????? Basically you hope their bus crashes on the way there, and if thats the case i hope you are the car they hit.

KeepDreamin, you just make me laugh haha, youre such a typical hawkeye fan, arrogant and cocky...you stated that metcalf will win it easily this year, but help me remember, wasn't he ranked #1 all last year too and supposed to be an undefeated national champ and then got his huge head deflated COMPLETELY when he was absolutely EMBARRASSED by darrion caldwell in the finals... and metqueer couldnt handle that he lost and pushed him after the match was over? Ya thats how it went, now i remember.:biglaugh:

No one is GUARANTEED to win it my friend, as metcalf is a perfect example:biglaugh:

O, yes, it is the way it went, minus the whole pushing after the match. There was still time on the clock, but that doesn't really matter. Nobody is guaranteed a win, but out of anyone in college wrestling this year, he is the closest to it. He has already taken it to many of the ranked 149-pounders, including #2. He will go through with a bunch of pins. I would be willing to put money on it.

Jake Varner is the most dominant collegiate wrestler without a doubt. He isn't as flashy or arrogant as Metcalf but is better. Both will be 2-time national champs this year since Caldwell is redshirting.

No there wasn't.
