Clones are ranked 342 @ 54% FT made out of 351 D1 schools. Ouch.

That needs to improve in a hurry if they plan to compete.

Clearly they can compete. FT's do need to improve. The stat has hindered our offensive efficiency somewhat.

I'm just really glad we found something to whine about in regards to our #4 team in the nation. Thank goodness!

McKay and Carter together are shooting 8% and they have shot a quarter of the teams charity shots.

The rest of the team is shooting 68%.

They say McKay works very hard on it. Last year he figured it out, hopefully he can again this year or he will be a liability at the end of games.

The numbers are kind of skewed, and make it seem like we're shooting them poorly as a team. Really, it's McKay and Carter who are really dragging this down. Percentages can swing wildly because it's so early in the season. Also, we haven't gotten to the line at even close to the same clip as we did at this point, last year. It's nothing to worry about, yet. McKay needs to work on his FTs, but there's not much to be concerned about for the other guys at this point.

I'm going to hint on what everyone else will reiterate. I think they'll still compete lol. Every team has flaws and not one team will be hands down dominant. Could this hinder outcomes on close games at times? Yes, but I'm sure they'll work on these. This was a problem at times last year as well.

It really comes down to McKay and possibly Carter. The others have too small of sample size to know if they are truly struggling. McKay will absolutely have to improve to not become a liability against deep teams. I get that.

Hopefully, McKay can get it figured out before Big 12 play. Definitely will be a liability at the end of some games if not.

Wording it they way I did was wrong... unless they figure it out it will cost us a few games. It's too hard to coach close games at the end when you can't play your best rebounder, etc.

The coach and players are also talking about this and realize the importance of correcting this if they're going to achieve their goals, so people on the board should not????

It just seems like there's so many positive things to take away from a game like last night's and you have people on here wanting to point some random stat that typically evens itself out over the course of a season.

As for McKay being a liability at the end of games, I really doubt that he's going to be looked at to do much ball handling when we'll have 4 other guys who can take score/take the ball up the court in crunch time.

Contrary to popular opinion, you don't have to have the ball in your hands to get fouled and sent to the line. Someone could grab a handful of jersey or chuck him hard enough chest to chest as he is going down the floor that they can't ignore it and they make the call. Anymore you can even grab a handful of jersey as they are trying to inbound the ball since they no longer seem to call that an intentional foul. It is a little riskier since they are a little more likely to call a flagrant if he doesn't have the ball, but it certainly isn't unheard of. They might also just wrap him up as soon as he gets the defensive rebound.

I don't understand those that shrug this off as if it is not a real potential issue. Yes, we are 4th in the country, and all that, but we WILL lose games because of this, if it doesn't improve. Free throws are one thing that players have complete control over. I'm not too worried about it right now because it's so early in the year and we haven't needed them, but we will later on. Can't have a situation where McKay keeps getting fouled late in the game in a close game when he's shooting like this. Not overreacting now, but it is definitely an important part of the game, that ISU is failing at right now.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how terrible our 3 point defense is and how badly we get outrebounded every game.
