Frost vs Herman

Is there some sort of prima donna culture of uncoachable football players in TX? The fact so many good coaches fail to succeed with every advantage has to be a “them” problem at this point.

Yes.

I know someone who knew someone in their program and it's a whole bunch of players that expect to be treated like gold.

There was also something about how all of the 'behind the scenes' stuff on the LHN inflates the egos even more.

Do we really know that Charlie Strong and Tom Herman are good head coaches? South Florida is already ready to fire Strong and Herman hasn’t been a head coach anywhere else.

herman was at Houston.

but your point stands. He’s very overrated.

I think its beneficial that Baylor to won today. ISU was out of the Big 12 CG running anyways. Rhule might be at Baylor for the long haul, but them going 11-1 makes him really attractive for better jobs.

And Texas losing today, well **** them. They lost to ISU & Baylor in back to back weeks. Gonna make Herman's seat really hot next year, and the pressure will be on them.

Frost is gonna get 2 more years and all he needs to do is make a bowl game. Herman needs 8+ wins next season or he’s likely gone

I don't think an 8-4 record guarantees Herman keeps his job. Big12 record will decide and anything less than 7-2 in Big12 play and he might want to look elsewhere.

UT being up and Baylor being down would be better imo. And UT being down hasn’t led to much better odds at a W. I think we can maintain our rare win against UT when they’re good.

Yep. Texas will always have a quality of athlete that will make them a tough out. When UT is down though as it has been for the last decade, it helps the mid-range south teams like OSU and Baylor float upward, as they have.

Essentially, texas being down makes it harder to get to 3rd or 4th in the conference every year, texas being 'back' makes it harder to be 1-2 (as in that scenario, OU and Texas probably lock that up most years)

Says something about Saban's success. He's dealing with the same kinds of elite players but they deliver to their potential every year.

Yeah Texas has always seemed real arrogant and such but it really felt like after Colt McCoy that their underachieving seasons are beyond the talent.

Saban doesn't seem to sugar coat things and maybe just tells them if they don't want to win a title and get exposure for the NFL, someone else will play and you can gfy.

I don't think the facilities really help them in the long run. It may get recruits in the door, but at what point does that affect their drive? Especially in football, you need to have some grit. Does the fancy locker rooms and theatre seats for film rooms prepare you for that?

I think as long as we have things rolling with this coaching staff, I'd rather have Texas be down. Baylor has caught some magic in a bottle and some good luck this year. They've earned it, but there is very little difference between them and us. I'm not convinced they stay that good.

The Austin press is going to be all over the MensaMan this week. Hope they ask him if he was outcoached--again.

Imagine if KU had beat them.

I’m torn. I think it’s beneficial for the conference for UT to be very good, rather than say, Baylor. But I do like having the UT game being very winnable. Can they rape Baylor and grab Rhule?
Hell of an analogy there...yeesh. ;-)

Predictably, in this week's presser the MensaMan was asked to his face if he was 'shaken' and whether or not he was still the right man for the job. Herman tried to make a 'drop the mic' joke of it, but if he's as smart as he claims, he probably wonders if this might be the beginning of the end with the Texa$ media.

The expectations of neither the fans nor the media are going to change. Nobody is willing to accept a "new reality" down there.

Horns are likely to finish unranked for the eighth out of the last ten years. That’s incredible.

Plus, I read that UT has had at least four losses for TEN years in a row, even after their great win against Georgia last year in the Sugar bowl.

Nebraska? Lost at least four games for the last SIXTEEN years in a row! :)

Herman better win 9+ next year or he is gone.
