Friday OT #2 - That's Not A Thing

When I was a youngster, I read a lot of books. I learned a lot of words just from context. Too bad nobody was reading it to me.

My parents about fell out of their chairs the first time I said "inevitable." I pronounced it in-ee-VITT-uh-bull.

We had a guy on our floor at ISU thought prerequisite was pronounced, "Pre-ruh-KWEE-stee." Swear to god that's true.

Ekspecially drives me crazy. I've even hear people on the radio/TV say it this wat. In my mind, your IQ dropped 10 points if I hear you pronounce it that way.

People complain about "big 12 refs" during basketball games like clock work. This is also not a thing. Basketball refs work multiple conferences (usually regionally) and I believe they operate like private contractors.

Seemed to be the go-to when referring to the fridge when I lived in Texas.

What really grinds my gears is that everything down here is referred to as a Coke. **** that - you're drinking Dr Pepper, not Coke!

At least they don't call it "pop". Call it "soda" like an adult.

When I first read the word Houston, I pronounced it “HOW-sten.” I think that’s normal for a 5-year-old — although I was 16 at the time. ;):D

You'd never heard anyone else speak of the major metropolitan area of Houston until you were 16?

What podunk did you grow up in?

I have a coworker who says "with all intensive purpose" and "mind bottling". It has become a running joke when he's not around.

I'll say should have went instead of should have gone. It drives my mother bonkers. I'm not even sure where I picked it up.
