It was absolutely appointment viewing.I remember when that premiered, it was huge news building up to it.
The Replacements hated music videos. Just the idea of them, thought they were the stupidest thing in the world. Wrote about it in songs like Seen Your Video and a few others. They refused to make one for The Ledge, but the studio told them either make a video or the album is dead. So they set out to make the most boring, uneventful music video ever... being filmed sitting around in a hangar eating burgers and doing nothing.
This seemed fresh, weird (avant-garde) and fun at the time.
It still feels that way after 55 years of technological advances.
It's not my favorite Beatles song. Not even top 20. But their best promo film (what they were called then).My daughter's favorite Beatles song. I have always found that video cringe-worthy.
