You, I like. Keep posting these lower totals. If you say it often enough, it MUST be true, right?
and I dislike, look where that purple is pushing toward! I still don't have a shovel or boots!

The mass freak outs and stupid news stories get out of hand. This is 2015, not 1950. And I wouldn't even really worry even if it was 1950 unless it was supposed to be a blizzard.
Still looks very mild tomorrow, as well as a persistent, strong, east wind that typically really hampers snow totals with dry air.

I am thankful for the early warning, I usually hitch the oxen up to my covered wagon and make the 7 mile trek to the nearest trading post sun up on Saturday to get supplies for the upcoming week. Because of this early warning I will now hitch the oxen to the covered wagon around midnight so I can be back by the time the storm hits. But because I am having to leave in the dark there is a strong likelihood my journey will be thwarted by natives or a pack of angry wolves and I will never be able to post on CF again. Thanks for the great forum and wish me safe travels on my journey.

I mean, I'm pretty certain 99% of people have enough supplies to survive 7 days if they were stranded at home. You might be running pretty low near the end (OMG WE ARE OUT OF MILK AND BREAD! THE HORROR!!), but you would survive and you're not going to be stranded for 7 days in Iowa. 3 days would be pushing it, even if you lived in the middle of nowhere.

It is one thing to have enough supplies when it is one person or a couple. Throw in a bunch of teenage boys that eat food like there is no tomorrow and it is somewhat more complicated.
If you are right, you may have to be up there with Metinka in my weathering heart.

Is that Oregon Trail? One of my kids would just hunt until he died from a hunting accident or scurvy or something.
Either way, you would survive 7 days even if you had absolutely zero things to eat. You'd be a little hungry, though. Like I said, you're not going to be stranded for more than 2-3 days, so the hype to rush to the grocery store is unwarranted.

Well,at least mine needs to drop a few pounds for wwrestling, so chewing on a frozen steak might be good for him.
Convince him shoveling will drop the pounds too.
