Really like watching Gremmel wrestle. It's nice to finally come to Hilton for meets and enjoy matches again.
It is impressive to see how much he has improved in the 2 years under this staff. Really love his motor and his offensive arsenal. When he hit that misdirection low single last meet against Metz, I thought how many heavyweights in the country can do that!?

This was a fun dual. It was the first I’ve been able to make it to this year, but it was clear we were in the Dresser era as soon as I walked in the door. The Cyclone shop was full of wrestling gear! My wife and I complained for years about the lack of wrestling specific gear. This was exciting to see.

Biggest takeaway rom me was Gremmel. He looked great. I was surprised by how quick he was.

Colbray also continues to impress. You could tell after he lost the lead he was confident in coming back. His turnaround is pretty amazing.

To me Gremmel is the biggest suprise. Guy just brings it every match.

Good dual with a lot of energy.

I thought Mackel,Gomez and Parker looked small compared to Fresno - but their motor was huge.
Chase had the Fresno kid beat - lapse towards the end and stopped wrestling - same as Colbry - Same just happened to win. I think Willie was getting frustrated with a kid that was stalling the entire meet and somehow ended up winning - I am confident both loses will be corrected come Big 12's

The social after was nice -- good showing up support for the team.

This wrestlin thing is starting to get fun in Ames !!!

Straw was the aggressor the entire match and the only takedown by the Fresno guy, who never took a real shot, was on a counter. That said, both of the stall calls on Straw were earned. Just sucks to see it happen that way.

I don’t know how the year will play out but one thing is for certain. Dresser can coach his ass off. It’s really amazing how he’s changed the mindset and culture. The aggression that he has instilled up and down the lineup is phenomenal. This isn’t the most talented team but they have a toughness about them that we haven’t had in a loooong time.

The momentum continues. Mackel and Gremmel both took strides in the rankings/national qualifying department, and its looking like we are now tracking to quality at least 8 for nationals. Coleman also seemed to take it up a notch tonight. The conference tournament should be a whole different experience this year. I invite everyone to watch the Dresser presser after the meet. He is clearly very excited about how we are trending, and made some interesting comments about the team overall (and in spite of the loss, how he is feeling good about getting to know Willie better, and coaching him down the stretch). Our new culture and better conditioning continue to show, and there is now a mindset across the roster that they can and will win close ones st the end. Our future looks brighter each time these guys compete.

I agree. Straw should have released him sooner rather than take the first stall call. That would have made the difference IMO.

Straw might have been the more aggressive one in the match but he just is not as active as many of our other wrestlers. He shouldn't lose that match in my opinion. Fun overall meet to watch, Gremmel is a blast to watch as a HWT.

Long time season tickets here. Schumacher with the big 6 point move was my favorite yesterday. Just did not expect it. Happy for the true freshman in first time dual in Hilton.
While a bit old school and not a big fan of walk up music, the Gomez walk up was awesome. The match was over before Gomez hit the mat. THAT is how I remember ISU wrestling.
JP and Dresser have the meets becoming an "event" like mbb, fb, and wbb. Thank you.
