Franchise Ideas

A Dennys close to a college campus would make a lot of money. The only Dennys I know of in Iowa is in Mason City. Cheaper and better than Perkins.

campustown is starting to get a makeover so it may soon become more than just a place for people my age to drink on the weekends. west/north ames would also be a great place to build one. both of those parts of ames are growing quickly and there isnt much out there. north ames is starting to get more restaurants and west ames really only has west towne pub which is overpriced. theres a huge lot for sale in front of the new basketball facility right now that would be prime location for a sit-down restaurant of some type.

heres the link to the property

Over a half million per acre. Better be a busy restaurant.

OK, here is what you need to do. Go find the owner of Zoey's in Marion and ask him if he wants to expand to either CF or IC. The BEST pizza around...

The only place that I've tried that topped it was the original Gino's East in Chicago.
Agree on Zoey's being the best around, but...

Since they won't even consider expanding their hole-in-the-wall location I seriously doubt they'd even consider other locations.

out here you would be incredibly busy as long as your prices werent too high. theres thousands of students/families out here that have to go all the way over to duff to go to a decent place like applebees or red lobster.

I would try and talk to the family that owns Tasty Tacos to see if you could help them expand into Cedar Falls, Ames and Iowa City. Something that I have always wanted to do, but I don't have the time to take it on. Tasty Tacos in those towns would do very well.

I helped the manager close the Ames Tasty Taco in 1984. He gave me all the left over meat beans and sauce!

haha fair enough...im talking decent place in terms of a college kid not a working adult. applebees is still a decent sit down restaurant. its not high class but it beats something like mcdonalds.

Ankeny is getting a new Tasty Tacos that is not franchised. The previous Tasty Tacos in Ankeny was franchised and was in a strip mall. It always seemed busy, but the service was extremely slow. We didn't go much because had to alot almost an hour for lunch.

my friend used to work in dennys, after the stories she told me on how things are made, i never ate at any dennys ever again

personally i would take a waffle house. I was hoping there would be some here, apparently not

You should look at Waterloo. Its a city of 60,000 + and in need of something new. Also Crossroads is an area that is really expanding with a lot of people moving to the area.

I remember a Tasty Tacos being in Ames when I was in school. I wonder why they weren't successful?

Waterloo seems to have a lot of the franchises covered, at least it seems that way.

I can imagine, as most of their locations are large cities, but I don't quite get that......if you seat 100, and all of them are full, who cares how big the city is?

more people, more chances people would go in and eat there.
Would you have better chances if you had 20,000 in the town to decide to eat there at that day filling up every table of yours for hours, or would you have better luck with 500,000+ people in the vicinity doing it. That plus i'm sure shipping costs and such would make the ability to get profit a lot harder.
