This was one of the strangest things I have ever seen at a game. Both teams off the floor, just a very calm, VERY long conversation with the other two refs watching. It went for maybe 1-2 minutes, but felt like forever. Incredibly odd.
The Cincy coach was pissed about the foul disparity, but his team stopped driving and took a lot of jump shots. Not sure what he was expecting with that strategy.
He should have been escorted out for naming him Jizzle.
Jizzle James real name is Edgerin James Jr.
They live in Wisconsin or Hungary?Otz is recruiting the younger kids Shizzle and My Nizzle.

I would actually argue that Cinci came into Hilton and tried to out physical us. They got away it in the first half but it backfired in the second. They had like 5 fouls before the under 16 TO and didn’t change their strategy. That’s flat out bad coaching. If the officials didn’t let them play the way they did in the first half it’s a completely different game IMO.We were getting the bad end in the first half, Cincy had the bad end in the 2nd half. They just were not a good crew, though the techs were probably deserved. Gilbert barked at the lead official after getting hacked and a no call, Jackson and their big guy got offsetting techs after jawing at each other (that one seemed soft but it depends on what was said), their coach got one after he exploded on the refs, and the final one their player slammed the scorers table which is usually automatic.
I brought this up in another thread but couldn’t talk about it when it happened because I was banned.
Gilbert’s game @ASU is exactly why mbb absolutely needs 6 fouls.
- Got baited into to a double tech by the ASU freshman who played like an emotional hothead all game
- One obviously blown call
- has to sit a ton with 3 and 4 fouls while he only committed 2 obvious fouls all game
The game is basically a broken sport if refs make honest mistake on same player twice. 6 fouls would be such a nice acknowledgment of reality and star players would rarely if ever ride pine because of officiating mistakes.
Building off what @isufbcurt said...Ref was shaking his head no - a lot during this conversation.

Got baited? How about stay the course and don't react like the coach preaches?
And if the blown call you're referring to was the one that looked like a blocking foul, iirc Gilbert pushed off and it wasn't clear in the beginning.
5 fouls is fine over 40 minutes.
A couple of thoughts… Gilbert won that game for us with his T. That’s when the officiating changed. Pat above referenced freedom of movement - which was a big officiating focus just a few years ago - and violating that was the UC plan IMO. Gilbert was fouled twice on that play - the first caused him to have to pass, and the second made it errant.
Someone else mentioned late whistles. I’ve noticed that a ton lately - and honestly I think I like it. I see that the whistle often blows when the shot doesn’t fall. Unless the foul is a hammer I have little problem with that. The other think I think it helps is cutting down on the “anticipated” fouls. If they hold that whistle for a second they can assess it better.
Did not expect that many to disagree with this.I brought this up in another thread but couldn’t talk about it when it happened because I was banned.

Disagree with both your points. Anticipated fouls are a big deal, especially in intense games on fast breaks - and it negates fantastic efforts and plays. As for a foul is a foul - welcome to four hour games only ending when the first team runs out of players. Calling weak fouls when the basket is made stops the game, a free throw is shot, and it stops the game flow.A foul is a foul. It doesn’t matter if the shot falls or not, even if it’s not a hammer. And as far as anticipated fouls, that doesn’t honestly happen a lot in higher level CBB. It happens occasionally, but not enough to warrant not making a call almost a full second after it happens.

As it is, if the game isn’t the first in the lineup you can count on not seeing the start on the primary channel.
It's more likely his grandpa than his dad. Edgerin James is only 46. That guy looked way too old. I could be wrong, I was on the other side of the arena.I didn't think so at first either but I think it was. His wife had a bag that had James on it, they went crazy every time jizzle did something good or got called for a foul, and I 100% saw the super bowl ring. I couldn't believe it was him but I pulled up a picture during a timeout and could see it in the face. I guess it's possible it wasn't him, i guess his brother or someone could have borrowed his super bowl ring.
