Houston just kept hanging around and keeping it close, and when Duke gave them an opening, made the plays to win the game. In crunch time at the end, Duke misses a 1 and 1 free throw, while Houston hit their 1 and 1 for two points to take the lead, and then on their second attempt, 2 shots because Duke was over the limit, the kid hit both of them.
You could replay that last 3 minutes 10 times and Duke would win 9 of them, but last night, was the 1 time for Houston. They played an almost perfect game the last 3 minutes and Duke cracked.
Duke is a better team? Duke had more help from refs.

That’s where the difference between the ACC and Big12 came through. Duke had not been in close games late. Houston had. You don’t want the first important 1 and 1 of the season to happen in the Final Four.

Duke had the better players, but that does not make them a better team. You have to throw in coaching and let's face it, you have to get some breaks to win a game like that. Not sure that was an over the back call on Flagg at the end, but the refs called it, after they had been letting them bang on each other all night. Not sure I saw many calls by the refs that favored either side, as both teams got calls that went their way.

I think Duke was the more talented team. Houston was better coached and more experienced. That experience and coaching made them the better team.
Duke has more talent than Houston. Up to 5 first rounders on Duke roster but Houston is a better team, no egos like Duke

I don’t think it was a matter of one side getting more calls than the other. It was a matter of style. Houston wanted a loose whistle that allowed physical play on the perimeter, Duke wanted a tight whistle. The refs called it tight early, causing foul trouble for Houston. They seemed to let more go later in the game, but Houston still had to bench players in the first half which led to Duke’s lead.

Flagg also fouled Tugler on the dunk on missed 3 pointer. They would have called foul if Flagg was dunking and Tugler was defending.

Duke had 3.7 left and that inbounds was garbage.
Yeah... that was really puzzling to me? Kept telling my wife... 3.7 secs is a lot of time... this isn't over... you can inbound it and advance the ball pretty far in that amount of time.

Not sure how good of a coach Scheyer really is honestly.

Houston is a tougher team than any team built around freshmen.

They’re not as talented on offense as Duke mostly because of Flagg but they are up there for best clutch shooting team and they may be the best defensive team. 22-1 in the Big 12 ain’t some scrub.

Hold up here, I remember after the Arizona game, when the kid hit the shot to send it into OT, many on here were saying that the long pass was the play they should have run, not the pass it inbound and let the guy dribble it up the court and try the shot. In fact a couple examples of the long pass then a kick were shown for everyone to see that it was the best way to try and win the game.

3.7 seconds, you play it exactly like Arizona did against us, not the long pass and hope like Duke tried last night.

Box score says close game but Duke lost because:
Outrebounded by 11
Their opponent shot 46% from 3

Those really are the only areas that weren’t close or where Duke had an edge. In a close game that’s easy to see though. 11 more chances with the ball in a short low possession college 40 minute game is a lot.
