Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

You only need to go in 2 inches which should be a relief for most on this site.
Thats all the further I could go, where it needed more or not.
This is the first time in 18 years of owning this home that I applied a pre emergence. I applied Lesco 0-0-7, we'll see if it makes a difference.
Probably going to put some Epson Salt down tomorrow or Saturday on my yard. I use about a tsp of it in each pepper or tomato plant hole before planting.
If I want to overseed this spring, is it too early to do this, or should I wait. I figured with some of the rain coming it would be a good time.
Also, I believe I have had grubs in the past and it is making my yard thin. Should I treat them early and later to help with this, or just do in June/July?
agreed. i feel like if i try to get too cute and time it right, im going to be late. Id rather be two weeks too early and have to do a second app, than be a week late.
You'd be better off to get it down before the rain so it can be watered in. You also want to be looking at 2" soil temps for lawns rather than 4". The vast majority of Iowa is at or above 50 degrees at this point. Here is a great website for tracking the trends and checking 2" temp.

I did mine in DSM Metro on Tuesday. Getting a nice little shower now, and feeling pretty good about it 
Just applied Scott's weed and feed yesterday after the little shower we had late in the afternoon. There are 2 houses on our block whose grass is already green and lush looking. The rest of ours look as good as you would expect sod laid on a layer of gravel to look.
I haven't read the whole thread but I'm going to be incredibly disappointed if @CoachHines3 or somebody hasn't made the joke "I tried to fertilize my wife's lawn last night".
Narrow landing strips are hard to fertilize. Some go the atrazine method and have no lawn.
