NFL: Favre has cracked rib?

Am I the only one having a hard time understanding why Favre would even bring this up? Why draw attention to it (for the opposing defenders)? Especially since it doesn't seem that the Vikings brass was saying anything about it. Seems to me like he is just trying to get more attention, show how tough he is, something.

I have been a Vikings fan as long as there has been a franchise, but I just have a feeling this whole Favre thing is going to end badly for this team. IMHO.
Brett Favre seeking extra attention? Unpossible!

He started the press conference to tell everyone that the drama queen's rag started today in case the camera's caught some spotting on the white pants or he looked crampy while warming up. But then he changed his mind and made something up instead..........$12 million so he can hand out gatorade....Good job Childress.

If Favre plays hurt it makes it ok for him to play awful right??? At least that seems to be the excuse I've heard for last year.

AA was playing hurt (and sub par performances) for a few games last season, pretty much everyone here gives him a pass for it.

Little difference between a coach benching AA and Brett Favre...not that there should be...plus the Clones were nowhere near 8-3 last year when AA started going south.

Yup, I pretty much agree with this. It's hard to make an argument for Josh after what's gone on in the past 6 months, but I'm still going to reserve judgement until I see how the team does in the regular season......with that said, I'm preparing myself for a tough season.
He's run the team into the ground. So far he's drafted a RB with our first pick in the draft, even though we already had 6 on the depth chart, he's driven away our best player from last year, and now he's ****** off our second best player from last year. Before Shanny was fired I was thinking that maybe we could get 10-11 wins this year with Cutler and Marshall turning into stars, but now we'll be lucky to get 6.

I actually got, no stole, Sage in the 15th round of my fantasy draft tonight. No way Favre is going to make it through the entire season.

I simply applied your previous "logic" to a T.

If our backup would've given us a better chance to win he should've played, no doubt...but Brett Favre is the only person who benches Brett Favre, where as you would think our coach could have the stones to pull the plug on our qb if he was injured or didn't give us the best chance to win.

For the record, at no point last year did I give Arnaud a free pass...but Arnaud was not the main reason for us not making a bowl, where as it's tough 2 say the same 4 Brett and the Jets not making the playoffs.

1. You honestly think anyone else on the Jets roster gave them a better chance to win?

2. You honestly think the Jets were even close to 8-3 to start the season without Favre?

I understand people dislike him for the drama, but the delusion here is comical.

1. He had about the worst qb rating in the NFL the last five games of the year...Jim Sorgi, Rex Grossman, and Dan Orvlosky could've put up those numbers...they didn't need Peyton Manning or even a 38year old healthy Brett Favre as their QB to make the playoffs those last 5 games...they just needed someone not throwing pick after pick after pick, and giving games away.

2. Probably not...although I'll go on record as saying I believe the Jets would've made the playoffs last year had they not signed Favre, and kept Pennington.

Did you guys see that chop block he laid on that dude from the Texans. Favre is an a-hole.

That was about as dirty as it gets.

There should be a HUGE fine coming down from the NFL... but we're talking about Favre.... so probably nothing.

I would have taken a late hit penalty on the next play and leveled Favre if I were one of the Texan players.

On a single chop-block that wasn't even a blind-side hit? True, it was illegal, but pretty sure that there were worse things going on in just that play alone. Favre just got too low, otherwise it would've been a clean hit.

+1

Favre's last five games of 2008:

98 completions on 175 attempts for 1011 yards 2 TDs and 9 picks.
He needed to be benched.

Bull ****. That was dirty and you know it. He lined it up, went low and went right at the knees. He's a ***** and I hope he gets ******* smoked next time he see live action.

Who's job is it to bench a player at any position? The player or HC?

Certainly tough to bench a future HOF but if that's what needed to be done and the HC felt another guy gave 'em a better chance to win, then he has to do it.

I'd contend that no other QB on that roster gave them a better chance to win than a dinged up Favre.

I certainly agree with you it's a coach's job...I just hope "Chili" has the stones to do it if Favre relapses into what he's done 3 out of the last four years. I'm also biased as I'd love to finally see Sage get a chance, and I'm extremely sick and tired of seeing all of the Favre drama every single offseason.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on your last comment.
