NFL: Favre has cracked rib?

So, this is the "hater" thread? Guess I don't belong, then.

Still, I guess we'll see how well he does with some small breathing difficulty. Doesn't sound like it's even been X-rayed.

It's not hard to hate Favre. He brings the majority on himself.

I read some speculation that he said that so the refs would protect him tonight...interesting

Haha and you probably believed it. See these rumors and lies are getting so far out of hand and the sad thing is most are gullible enough to believe them. Than people say "I ******* hate Favre." When in fact the dude hasn't said or done anything.

It is entertaining to watch though

I know, I know.....I'm just a little bitter seeing Baby Jay come back to Denver and hand it to us at Invesco.....he got it done though and looked pretty good out there.

I admit that I was hoping to see Brian Dawkins come on a safetey blitz and turn his lights out....it didn't happen though.

I'm thinking that Belichik Jr. shouldn't have run him out of town. It's too bad, I've never disliked the Broncos, but McDaniels seems like a tool, and his scorched earth approach is going to run that franchise into the ground. He needs to quit aping Belichik in everything he does, from the cut off sweatshirt, to the obtuse answers to media, etc. I always liked Shanahan, so maybe I'm biased.

Please elaborate. Sorry to ask you as a lot of others have said similiar things. But how is the guy a tool for THIS? TIA

He's a tool for that stupid story he told about his daughter. That was complete BS.

There's no need to get defensive about this thread.....we're just having some fun and pointing out the irony in what has become the Brett Favre saga.

If you want to take this seriously though, I'll play along and point out that Favre did bring on this speculation by himself.....why did he tell EPSN anything at all, especially w/o any official word from the training staff or coaches? It definitely leaves one to wonder why, does it not? Is he trying to promote another "toughest guy ever" storyline for the game tonight if he does well? Or is he trying to provide an excuse in case he makes mistakes - perhaps? Does a tough guy & veteran like Favre really need to mention anything like this to the media about a "potential" injury even though he's gonna play?......like he doesn't know it's gonna be publicized and critiqued to the high heavens before the game tonight? It was Favre's choice to tell ESPN about the rib and start the speculation....not mine or any other so-called "haters" in this thread.

Just going to take a logical shot in the dark here and say that he told the media because they asked how he was feeling?!?! I know I may be reaching out to right field on this one. :biglaugh:

You guys act like he threw a press conference to announce that he may have a cracked rib.

Yup, I pretty much agree with this. It's hard to make an argument for Josh after what's gone on in the past 6 months, but I'm still going to reserve judgement until I see how the team does in the regular season......with that said, I'm preparing myself for a tough season.

Does anybody remember reading what the guaranteed amount was on Favre's contract? Just curious.

Am I the only one having a hard time understanding why Favre would even bring this up? Why draw attention to it (for the opposing defenders)? Especially since it doesn't seem that the Vikings brass was saying anything about it. Seems to me like he is just trying to get more attention, show how tough he is, something.

I have been a Vikings fan as long as there has been a franchise, but I just have a feeling this whole Favre thing is going to end badly for this team. IMHO.

Maybe that's true and that's all it was, but why say anything at all if he's still going to play and no x-rays or tests have even been done.....a little premature don't you think?

Shouldn't a wise veteran leader know that a million questions and endless speculation will result out of his statement and his teammates and coaches will all be affected by this - is that what the Vikings need right now - more Favre speculation? I think you're letting your love for Brett Favre get in the way of how you think a respectable veteran and leader of a football team should act, but I guess that's just my ridiculous opinion and I'll surrender to you b/c you know how Brett Favre thinks and what his true motives are......
