Favorite Sandwich Shop?

Twin Cities.

Best Subs: Erberts and Gerberts.
Best Banh Mi: Mi-Sant (These are terrific and I highly recommend them)

Maybe the best sub I've ever had is from Bo Diddley's in St. Cloud, MN. Seems like a weird place to have that good of a sub. Maybe I've just been really hungry every time I've been there.

Live in Jersey. The mom & pop deli's are too many to choose and almost all great. It sure has hell ain't Jersey Mike's though. It's actually offensive that it has Jersey in the name.

That Rochester station gave me identity issues as a kid. Didn’t know what state I was growing up in.

3 Sioux City stations + 2 or 3 Sioux Falls stations = news (and political ads) from 4 states. Hear something about "Clay County" and you have no immediate idea if they're talking about Vermillion, S.D. or Spencer, Iowa.

I’d have to think on the best sandwich ever but one that would certainly be in the running came to my head instantly. It was in San Diego at a Deli in Little Italy. I had a project there most of 2019 and I went here regularly.

Mona Lisa Italian Foods. Big fat sandwiches with imported deli meats, fresh baked bread, and mean Italian guy making it. It was perfection

Curious what everyone's favorite sandwich shop is where you live? I'm in the Des Moines metro, so it's mostly franchises. My favorites around here are Wich Which, B&B Grocery (The Killer), and Jersey Mike's for a good Philly.
Jersey Mike's for what is around me and I can get quickly/easily.

I still love Mr. Goodcents but there are only a few in Overland Park/KC area that I would ever go to again so I'll be going during the Big 12 Tourney for sure.

I love Potbelly too.

For local sammies, if you're in MPLS Caffrey's and Tono's. You're welcome.

Another one in San Diego that comes to mind might not be considered a sandwich to some but was a wild concept. They hollowed out some bread and stuffed it with pasta.

Also off topic, checking out Tucson for the first time next week and I have this place saved.
Do it! I visited Tucson for the first time last year and Eegees is worth a visit. My girlfriend grew up there and Eegees is at the top of the list of things she misses. We didn't eat but their drinks are great. I don't know how to categorize them. They are like a slushy, frozen yogurt, orange julius combination.

When in Dubuque, Pickle Barrel is the go to.

Capriottis philly cheese with sweet AND hot peppers is the best I found in Cedar Rapids.

I can tell you the one place that I heard so many great things about but left a little disappointed, Primanti bros in Pittsburgh. The bread sucked and overall just kind of sucked.

Agreed, but 10 miles on either side and it can be a big difference.

63 just seemed convenient. Being in Cresco I hear comments like “it’s a different world west of 63” or “you’re basically in South Dakota once you get past Davis Corners” on a regular basis. In this little corner of the world, it seems like a universally recognized transition point from the plains to the Driftless
I get you. I attended Crestwood High School . Grew up living slightly west of 63 and I KNOW I grew up in NE Iowa. ;)

I really like Downtown Deli but isn't all their meat Sysco brand?

I don’t drink anymore but I’ve heard this. That town is a ******** though. I work there occasionally.
I played baseball there on occasion and we went there for the mall that is no more. Town I grew up in was about pop 700 and Chuck Town had moderately better shopping (at that time, anyway) than Cresco or New Hampton. I understand what you are saying, though.
