Favorite Cover Songs

This was originally released by Jimmy Radcliffe to no real notice.
This cover version was #3 in the UK, and did chart in the US, but not in the top 50.
Yes, the video is pretty lame...
Very soulful song/version.

For that matter, The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore was originally recorded by Frankie Valli. Not sure it technically qualifies as a cover as neither of them originally wrote it, but I do love the Walker Brothers.

God I hate when anyone covers or samples "Wonderwall." The original is perfect and cannot be improved upon. I wish people would just stop.

Damn I miss Oasis.

Agree to disagree, I guess. I did see Oasis live about 7-8 years ago in Chicago, and for what it's worth they were way better than I expected.
By the way, even Noel Gallagher thinks the Ryan Adams version is superior (2008 Spin interview)

Liam told me he hates "Wonderwall." It's the one song he literally hates singing.
That's interesting, because he would never say that to me. Well, I hate him singing it, too. Liam doesn't sound like he did ten years ago. Your voice and your body change. We've never got it right. It's too slow or too fast. I think Ryan Adams is the only person who ever got that song right. I'd love to do the Ryan Adams version, but in front of 60,000 Oasis fans that wouldn't be possible.

Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone - Ziggy Marley
Jolene - White Stripes
What I've Done - Marie Digby
You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go - Miley Cyrus (yeah, I know, but she does this song justice)

I can't believe I forgot that one. Probably my favorite cover ever.

Quick Oasis note: a DJ on the radio in Colorado commented that he had dinner with Oasis about 10+ years ago and Liam and Noel guarded their food like they were in prison.

I did get to see Ryan Adams open for Oasis a few years back. Great show.

That's very interesting, I had no idea they hated their own song. Shouldn't really surprise me though because most of the time those two are dicks. I know Thom Yorke of Radiohead hates "Creep" and refuses to play it. Even Led Zeppelin hate "Stairway to Heaven" and didn't want to play it in their final years of touring. I love "The Perfect Drug" by Nine Inch Nails but Trent Renzor doesn't like that song and has never played it live. Musicians are a finicky bunch.

The Black Crowes have some phenomenal covers out there on youtube:
Love to see the Crowes getting some respect. Here is another one, make that two.... a reworked hard to handle + hush from the last tour.

Bob Seger - If I Were A Carpenter

I love Dr. Dog doing Heart It Races much better than Architecture In Helsinki's original.

M. Ward/Neko Case: To Go Home

Jim James/Calexico: Going to Acopolco (SP). Still have no idea what Richard Gear was doing in that movie.

Allison Krause/Robert Plant: Trampled Rose

This guy was real fun before he surrounded himself with a standard bar band:

Once read a review saying he looped in his guitar work. That reviewer wasn't sitting close enough:

My favorite cover and IMO the best cover ever is Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt.

True, but I think of this every time I hear it now....

I also like Live and Let Die by Guns N Roses:
