Favorite bad movie

1984 Dune has enough bad stuff that it can be called a bad movie without making me jump to defend it...

But it also has enough amazingly awesome stuff in costume, set design, sound and music that I absolutely love it and have watched it maybe 10 times. Some of the characters and settings look ridiculously cool/beautiful/scary.

I love the David Lynch weirdness parts but that's why many hated/hate it.

The new two part film is already awesome and will be awesome. But I genuinely think the 1984 movie probably ended up better in some ways than the Jodorowsky one would have been. Second guessing is easy.

I don't tend to argue much on the internet...but The Thing, a bad movie? Get outta here.

Recommendation for anybody who likes The Thing:

The X-Files: Season One, Episode 8: Ice

It's commercial free on hulu or free on Amazon Freevee with a few commercials.

It's an obvious homage to The Thing, but done very well.

How have we made it this far into the thread and no mention of Labyrinth with David Bowie's crotch?!?!?!

Saw that movie way too often as a kid and loved it despite it being so bizarre and creepy.

So many great ones that ended up on TNT/TBS or Cinemax and the extra HBO channels back in the 90s. A few that come to mind:

Last Action Hero - Schwarzenegger parodying his action movies. It tanked when it came up but I think the premise would work better today.
No Escape with Ray Liotta - a sorta sci-fi movie where Liotta is sent to an island prison.
Surviving the Game - rich people hunt the rapper Ice-T for sport
Demolition Man - Stallone goes to the future to fight Wesley Snipes dressed as Dennis Rodman

I have two. The first is the first 5 minutes of Cobra. TERRIBLE movie, but those 5 minutes are gold. Best part is when he tells the dude to "drop it", waits 2 milliseconds, then pumps several rounds into chest.

Second is Frankenhooker (1990). One of my buddies had this on VHS and the premise is ridiculous. Inventor boyfriend creates a remote controlled lawnmower and accidentally runs over (chops up) his girlfriend. Said boyfriend then figures out how to resurrect her but he needs body parts. Enter Super Crack, another invention of his that causes the inhalee to blow up after smoking. The boyfriend then salvages the parts to to put his GF back together again.

For those interested you can see it in it's entirety on youtube. The highlight starts around the 39 minute mark where Jeffrey (the boyfriend) is inspecting hookers to see if they have the right parts. He decides not to go through with it but the ladies find his stash of super crack, start smoking, then blow up. The editing/cuts that go from the women screaming to still of mannequins being blown to bits is hilarious. Due to some nudity I'm not going to link the scene directly.
