He made it clear he could have won by way more than 20 seconds if he wanted to. Fastest lap? Yeah I can get that first try.
I mean it should be pretty easy for him to get fastest lap. He got fastest lap with a 1:16.3. His qualifying time was over 4 seconds faster. Everyone has to get out of his way and let him by as he is in first.

Anyone else curious as to how the NASCAR Garage 56 entry is going to go at Le Mans this weekend. They had a pretty impressive first session being ~2-3 seconds ahead of rest of the GTE field.

It would be interesting to get an in depth look at what all they had to change/modify to make the car competitive on track (definitely a lot of aero added).

Not a real deep look at what they modified, but it lists most of it.

This season is getting really boring. Red Bull and Max have it basically wrapped up already. Merc and AM might be in a race for second. Ferrari is being Ferrari. The rest of the field lacks any excitement. None of the new drivers are out performing expectations.

I find myself way more interested in the quali than the actual races.

It’s really the worse time for it to be this boring. With viewership as high as it is. They definitely could have used a few seasons like Max’s for championship.

It's not that easy - he's running race trim, not quali trim, on used tyres. Whole different situation.

I compared the chart of actual tyre usage to F1TV's strategy guide. Of the four top strategies suggested:
Only Zhou used Strategy 1, finishing 9th.
No one used Strategy 2.
No one used Strategy 3.
Piastri, De Vries, and Albon used Strategy 4, finishing 13th, 14th, 16th, respectively.

I know it's not novel but some of the random RB dominance stats are crazy.

It took seven races, but someone has finally started behind a Red Bull and beaten it to the chequered flag.

Sergio Perez and George Russell shared the sixth row of the grid for Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix. Russell got ahead of his rival at the start, made quicker work through the traffic ahead and beat him to the chequered flag by 3.423 seconds.

Qualifying was today for LeMans and that Camero was 5 seconds a lap faster than the entire GTE field and they won the pit stop challenge this week. If that car is reliable it could end up surprising some people.

I'd like to think that it'll be fairly reliable. NASCAR spends a lot of time driving at pretty much full throttle, with a pretty large sample size. Plus Hendrick Motorsports is a pretty big organization. Then again, Le Mans eats cars and makes them break in weird, exciting, and new ways. While I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, it would be nice to see that car do well, and the entire bashing of NASCAR only making left turns stigma go away.

Agree. I think the biggest problem is being so much slower on that type of track. It will be interesting.

That car isn't slow though. It's been surprising people with the pace they've had. It's not hypercar fast but it's way faster than the production based classes. A lot of that pace though is because it's got an extra 100hp over the rest of the GT field since there is no replacement for displacement. Those 2 extra cylinders under the hood will mean they have to make more fuel stops more than likely but with a 5 seconds a lap advantage over the rest of the cars they're competing against I don't think it matters. The flip side to that pace advantage is that if they were running a real GTE program instead of the experimental class they'd be subject to a balance of performance hit and would need to ballast the car to bring it bac closer to the pack.

This picture is hilarious. It looks like someone photoshopped it in.

That's a real picture or at least NASCAR on Fox posted it on their facebook page this morning.

Yeah it’s a real picture, it just looks so crazy that it seems like a bad photoshop.

It reminds me of this meme.
