Explosions at Boston Marathon

There were some sort of weird unnecessary jabs at Boston in there, like a terrorist can't make a point if they target anywhere but NYC. Just odd, and maybe a little offensive? I can see writing that article on Wednesday or Thursday, but not while emergency people are still working the scene.

That's what I thought, too. Like, somehow the only reason that Boston was a target was because NY cancelled their marathon. Maybe too soon, dude.

NY Post is trash... Take it from a former new yorker... It's all about sensationalization. Also the only paper to post the image of the guy that was pushed into the subway tracks trying to get out, moments before he got hit. They have no morals. Page 6 is a disaster.

Makes the des moines register look like a top notch publication.

That's pretty damning.

I've got the Washington Post free on my iPad; much better.

OK, we can remove the link now

Clicked on it anyway. It was so over the top it didn't register as being real to me. Felt like it was from the walking dead. Never sure things if photos like that should be published. I see they have at least blurred out his face now (that wasn't the case when I first looked at it).

If you can stomach it, here's video and audio from the first explosion. Hard to watch: http://bo.st/11bayva

At about the 2:23 mark there appears to be a press photographer pitching in to help rather than snapping pictures. He'll probably lose his job. I guess I would be a terrible member of the media because I wouldn't be able to just stand there and watch rather than trying to help.

NBC Sports tweeted that some runners crossed the finish line, and then just continued onto Massachusetts General to donate blood. Everyday heroes, if true.

Seems like cellphone's being shut off might be a logistical nightmare for the people in boston.

As someone who is enough of a squeamish baby to have never donated blood, would you even be in any condition to donate after running a marathon?

Shutting down the cell service has to be terrifying for those trying to get ahold of loved ones there, but if its going to prevent more damage it's got too be done
