Evan Frost

Sounds like he'll definitely get a medical RS for another year. He could fight for a spot here or be a quality transfer for another team but I think he loves it in Ames.

If Anthony takes his final year (I assume he will), there will still be a logjam from 41-49. Can Jacob go to 57? I think Paniro could go 57. Does Evan jump to 49? Probably time for a 26-27 Lineup thread.

Based on what I’ve seen from a healthy Paniro is that he is odd man out. I trust a fart when I have diarrhea more than I trust Paniro. I hate to say that but there has been plenty of examples.

Watching Evan warm up, I was really surprised he didn’t go. He got a good lather working with multiple guys and Metcalf. I wonder if it was as simple as be safe with him and I wonder if there was another option at 49, we would not have seen Jacob at 49 at all this weekend either but there just wasn’t.

I think Evan thought he was going too. Dresser had a long convo after introductions and he looked a bit disappointed after

I was kind of disappointed he didn’t go. He cuts a ton to get down to 133 so I figured he definitely would’ve went Sunday night.

who knows what portal season brings but IMO with that lineup we need to look to upgrade 65, 84,97

Garvin at 65 is my pipe dream and mine the blue bloods for someone at 84 and 97 who wants back on the mat…Has been mentioned maybe Robb and (forget his name @84) from Okie State
I think this is mostly right, I think MJ is essentially in the same tier as Euton for me in terms of “close to needing to find another option”, so I would add 174 to the list with 165/174 being heavily dependent on how they perform at nationals.

I remember listening to a dresser interview from over the summer when he basically told the guys at the end of the year last year “if we don’t have a guy at a weight that can’t make it deep into Friday, we’ll be shopping around during portal season”. I assume he’ll have the same mentality again this year.

MJ's last 5 matches
#18 SDSU- Win
#8 Oklahoma- Loss. but still got hosed from my point of view
#7 OK State- Loss
#14 WVU- Win
#12-UNI- Win

Gets #9 Missouri on Sunday.

Loaded bracket in Tulsa, and MJ is right there, plus has a win over #3 Iowa this year.

Yes, I am a huge MJ fan, nobody wants to see him in a tournament when they haven't had time to prepare for his style. I think he does damage at NCAA's.

****thanks to the Oracle for helping me out with those stats.****

His recent matches are definitely better and I hope it signals a change. I stand by that he's pretty comparable to Euton, who has 5 losses to #'s 2, 4, 6, 7 and 16 (wrestlestat). Gaitan has 4 losses to 6, 9, 12 and 54. Outside of the Kennedy win for Gaitan they both seem to struggle against guys likely to make the podium. For what it's worth wrestlestat has Gaitan's last five rated at 21, 12, 9, 19, 16.

He still suffers from a lack of leg attacks which really hinders him, even in his good wins like Kennedy this was very apparent. And his recent results seem to back up the idea that he is a potential blood round guy who could squeak onto the podium with the right matchup.

I hope this proves to be false, this will be his 3rd NCAA if I'm not mistaken and I think he has made the blood round one other time so we will have 3 full years worth of data on him at that point. I think making the blood round is kind of the break even point for him in my eyes. Making it to the blood round and losing would be highly matchup/context dependent, past the blood round would be a great indicator that he's turned a corner. Failing to get there would be a pretty clear signal that it's time to move on imo.

Has anyone heard anything new on Evan and how he’s progressing from injury?
